Look pivot heel lift normal?
Hello there. I just got my new skis back with the green look pivots installed. When I put my boots on and step into them in the living room and lean forward and pull up in the heel I can move the boot up and down at the heel around 3-4 mm.
Is this the elasticity of the heel and normal or does the forward pressure need to be tightened down? The thing is the forward pressure indicator is perfect right now and I can twist out of them to release the bindings fairly easily now.
If I adjust the forward pressure so that the boots are locked down it becomes much harder to twist out of them at the same din.
Din is 11 on pivot 18's.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

Don't trust the forward pressure indicator. It should be pretty tough to twist out at 11.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer

Yeah, the forward pressure indicator on these are pretty worthless.
Use it for setting a starting point (you have to reset the heel to double check a reading anyway, hopeless..) Sounds like your pressure is a bit low, so tighten it until you cant easily move the dildo around by wiggling it sideways.
Now push it down as to release the boot, but only halfway. If the fwd pressure is right, it should snap back, not stick or move sluggishly.
It has also been suggested to just tighten it until it has firm action clicking in:

FWIW, i get slight movement of the boot in the heel if i try on my living room floor with my foot in the boot, but nothing noticable while skiing.. Might be the extra walking rubber on the lange rx makes it less solid, due to the way it holds the boot..

^ya, the forward pressure indicator is somewhat useless.
Tighten your forward pressure till you get no heel lift.Do what you like, Like what you do.

If you yank on it you will get some minor lift. This is how the system deals with the ski flexing; ie. your boot heel will pivot up (away from the ski) to accommodate ski flex, which changes the distance between the toe and heel piece of the bindings. If it didn't do this, you boot would release through the toe every time you flexed your ski. Some small vertical movement is normal, as this is how the binding provides elasticity in the system.
That said, there shouldn't be a lot of lift. The forward pressure indicators are crap, so use the link provided in the previous post.
Particularly this:
If you still can't get it right, or don't feel confident skiing them because they will explode, send them to me I will be sure to put them to good use.Last edited by iscariot; 11-22-2012 at 11:25 AM.

Happy Thanksgiving! Eat and be merry and hopefully hit the slopes! I will be tomorrow suckas
Anyways thanks for all the great info and help. I tightened down the heel to where there is the slightest amount of play in the heel. I can lift the heel up and it is now pretty locked down so that I can really flex the tail of the ski up which by the way is kind of scary. I'm used to a lot stiffer skis and these seem
So flimsy. I did order them medium/stuff so we'll see how they ski.
Thanks again for all the great help. For any of you that ever ski north shore let me
Know and ill buy you a brewski!
