That's a very cool film, nice job. I was in Dubai for ten days last January. The film pretty much covered all of the bases about what makes the place so amazing. Thanks.

Very beautiful. I was in the Mall of the Emirates last year on a 2 day Dubai stopover from L.A. to Ethiopia - and when I happened across Ski Dubai (its entrance is just a storefront like any other indoor mall store) I couldn't resist trying it just to say I'd done it.
Honestly if they had indoor skiing in L.A. I'd do it in the summer. The runs are short but a couple sections had decent pitch.
If they would run the quad lift faster it would be truly fun - the lift is agonizingly slow. I got harshly yelled at (literally yelled at) by a safety monitor at the top of the lift because I didn't have the bar down.
But they were doing insane amounts of business - I'm sure it costs a grip of money to run, but they sure looked like they had a grip of cash coming in. The ticket included rentals and the ski wear - about $35 total for a couple hours admission.
The gold-bar-dispensing atm machine near the entrance took the cake though.

The entrance to Ski Dubai from inside the mall (which makes the malls in Vegas look small by comparison)

Gold to go! Machine dispensing gold near the entrance of Ski Dubai

Waiting in line to buy my ticket behind a lady (I presume) in a full burka

An advertisement inside the lobby area of Ski Dubai for a ski resort in Kazakhstan - on "Eastern Europe's 2nd Best Airline"

The "lodge" - complete with fireplace (video screen image of a fire)

Riding the chairlift

The mid point cafe - you could get off the lift here or continue to the top

The "steep run"

I'm a huge fan of jordan manley x chad sayers "a skier's journey" pieces but glorifying that thing is super fucked up.
you realize what that 'ski hill' symbolizes, right? how about this, if you want to ski, don't live on the fuckin equator??!? melting glaciers so we can make snow. so ridiculous. disappointed these two decided dubai was good a place to make a ski film, if you want boring terrain with some crazy die hard, i'm sure indiana or winnipeg can meet those needs. don't glorify something that is responsible for destroying natural outdoor skiing. get back to skiing baffin island, shames or la grave please.....

Jordan Manly delivers again - also my favourite ski fiilm maker right now...
More than just ski films.
I hear you...
Lets be honest though - jet setting across the globe to Japan, Baffin or La Grave is hardly an eco friendly activity either ?
Much as I hate to admit it to myself the amount of CO2 from one long haul flight is insane. Just being a rich westerner who like's to ski, drive a car or fly nice places on holiday probably means your almost certainly using more than fair share of global resources (myself included).

yes traveling by airplane definitely isn't eco friendly nor is skiing in general, BUT keeping a place cold enough to keep snow from melting when its 40 degrees C outside, desalinating water to make snow, making snow every night coupled with running a ski lift..... that thing must have a HUGE carbon footprint. couple that with super lame ski terrain, plus the fact that sayers and manley traveled from canada most likely to make the film, so the travel argument is null and void since they have to travel long distances to film on baffin island or dubai). and while being a westerner, i probably use more than a fair share of global resources, that doesn't mean that I cannot stride to use less and encourage others to use less. glorifying that horrible thing doesn't do anyone on this planet any favors. if anything it should be damned, but then again, I'm sure manley x sayers got a nice phat check to promote that place and cash rules......
