    Jackson Hole over president week...?

Oh noooo, I just realized (with some horror) that the week I was planning in JH falls exactly together with president week.
Last year I was told by everybody to avoid it, this year I just didnt think as we don't have this holiday in Europe. It is next to impossible for me to change the dates (doing a Canada trip before and my buddy there can only do that time, plus with work I can't shift my vacation).

How bad is it really, how huge are the crowds? Is the line at the tram really bad?
Or is it mainly just families and lots of people on the beginners slopes.
I mainly ski out of bounds..

I was told that it usually quietens a bit after Monday, but that the week generally stays really busy.

    Can't believe my timing.

I've been to jhole a few times during president's day and it really wasn't bad. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Enjoy!

Why the hell don't you Euros respect an honor our Presidents? Fuck, if it weren't for good ole US of A, you would would all be at the mercy of the Germans. Oh, wait...

As for the topic here, I don't know, but I would assume OB laps not much effected by the holiday folks. But lines at Restaurants could be long.

It ain't president's "week". It's just a three day weekend and it and MLK birthday weekend are noticably more crowded with regional skiers on the first two days (who then take advantage of the extra day to drive back home). These holidays are big with skiers who have to drive 200-300 miles to a destination. Then the resorts get relatively empty as most everyone planning a trip around then has already done so. A big weekday dump right after a holiday usually means blissfully uncrowded powder.

Ps. Jackson has so many locals that just about every weekend with fresh powder can be considered "crowded". If it dumps on a weekday after its been dry for two or three weeks, then half the town takes a powder clause and its still crowded in the morning.

I chased a huge storm into Jackson one presidents weekend, pre new tram. I was staying at the Alpinhof, enjoying my first cup of joe, when I saw people starting to line up at the tram at 5:30am!
I just about shit my pants, which is why I was drinking the joe in the first place.
Luckly, Karl Stall had hooked me with the inside line. I walked around to the tram dock and got in with one of the groups of locals that hire out guides, just to cut the lines on big days!

Hi, thanks.. that doesn't sound that bad and yeah if its a powder day I guess it doesn't matter whether it is president weekend or not. I was in JH last year over Spring Break and it was quite empty the whole time. (even on a powder day).
Not so fussed about restaurant queues, its the skiing I go there for

Neck deep pretty much has it except that there it is also called "ski week" and a lot of schools have the entire week off. So there will be families out and about, that mostly just keeps things lively at the base of resorts.

It may make a few lift lines longer, but mostly Casper and that zone. I bet the Gondi line is also effected.

As for powder, everyone I was there, lines never got too long, but it there were more folks the more snow that droppe overnight

If it is storming outside, a good portion of the tourists (they barely ski & are shitty powder skiers) will be staying inside most likely. However, if it bluebird, you could be in trouble. You better go past the gates (You are from Europe, I assume you have bc gear) to away from those Gaper/SPORs (Shitty People On Rentals) who think that the new fancy S7s & Rockers2s rentals with demo binders will make them better skiers.

Buy us locals some 6 packs or pitchers of beer & we MIGHT show you spots that are SPOR free, you gotta prove your worth. More beer, the better you are. I don't mind showing visitors, because you'll be gone in a couple days.

    Hi skiinggirl,

I am the Vice President of Tram Operation at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

If you will please post a photograph of yourself, without clothing, I will keep an eye out for you and escort you to the head of the tram line free of charge.

Skiing the village is a ghost town compared to most of the Colorado ski resorts. You might wait in a few lines (especially if terrain/lifts are closed for avi control) but nothing to crazy. See ya soon!

^^ haha, this for sure. Except the fact that CO resorts (along i70) are always a crowded mess (minus the basin after the early season)

Really, because there's 28 ski areas in CO and for the most part, only the ones along I-70 are crowded. Jackson's way more crowded than Aspen.

    not to mention Wolf Creek...
The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.
We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

Hey, well its booked, airfare was to good n only 3 seats left, so it is gonna be president week, if it's busy I'll just live with it

Yes, I have bc gear, I know most of the main out of bound runs, may want to hike the pass or park a bit more this year condition depending.

To Mr Tram president, that would only work if you threw in a lifelong liftpass with that...

With any luck it'll be a powder day, and you can watch all the gapers struggle to remain upright while laughing snobbishly to yourself.
    Great fun!
You should take Harry up on his offer. Either that, or PM Rontele. He knows the best ways to avoid the crowds and get the goods at JH.
    No longer stuck.

It really depends on who you are. Some naked pics would help us help you.
