    Red Slate.

    Congrats guys. Very cool.

AKBruin, after reading this thread I see that it was Meter-Man you must've met on Saturday. Another dentist.

Rock Creek: road doesn't go to Mosquito Flat. It's about an hour walk from parking to MF and then another 30 min until the skis can come on. I did that thing where one realizes one left one's skins at the hotel an hour into the hike. But Franz reports good conditions although Cats Ears doesn't go (there's a rock in the middle).

So I did TJ Bowl once I recovered my skins. Getting to most stuff on the Crest is kind of a pita these days with lots of off and on skis and lakes in a dubious state of crossability.

Looks like Sonora Pass just opened. Earliest opening in ages. Probably really good up there right now.

Franz and AKB throwing down some classics this year!

Personally, I prefer 5 turn shrub elbowing myself ....

Ellery bowl was pretty bony Tuesday (4/23), and with all the warm weather we've had, I'd be pretty sketched trying that line.

Did Dana Couloir to Elery today. Dana at 2 pm was firm but edgable. Elery was boney at the very top but otherwise had great corn.

    One pic TR:

Gimpy, we rode Powerhouse today and it was good, but I dunno... it sure seems burlier this year. Seems steeper due to less snow. We ended up doing the diagonal chute into the lookers left chute. Seemed to have the smoothest snow of the options we had when we got there (late), even though it has some pretty serious exposure. On the exit, we took the lookers left drainage that nobody takes, it was great because there was like 1 track in it. Problem is getting out at the bottom where it cliffs out. We had a not-so-fun bushwhack back over the main drainage, but looking at it from the road later I think you could traverse out of it a little higher and actually connect it to the other one w/o unstrapping.

yeah jimmydub!! i actually made that same statement on the previous page. less snow = more steep. lotsa sideslippin in the entrances. whenever you can ski to within a 5-10 min walk to your car, powerhouse is a way better run then ellery imho.

    any reports from sonora???

You can get across the water on the snow. You can ski to and from hairpin on snow all the way.
