Watch out for rockfall driving down in the afternoon. Lots of crap still rolling down the scree slope, I got nailed but didnt die and no damage to my truck (drinking whiskey).
I'll be the hyena, you'll see.

About to go to bed in Bishop. Who wants to do Solstice or Unknown or ChuteOut with me tomorrow? I'll be up on Tioga at around 730am.

    Give me a call in the morning 617 447 4131. I'm in a gray Mazda 3 sedan.

haha gimpy ... I'm stuck in Philly at a work conference while everyone is out getting it. A certain someone I know said on Saturday night, after hitting Tioga,
"For all of you who did not ski with me today I have just one word and one word only:
    SUCKERS!"

For those with season passes at other resorts you can get Mammoth lift tickets for $49 through the end of the season. It appears to be unadvertised.

I just spent the last three days on the Wooly Mammoth taking advantage of the deal. Friday and Saturday were what I drove there for. Cloud 9 heaven. The corn was as good as it gets. Chair 22 face was also perfect corn. Drop Outs didn't really soften until 3:PM. Sunday everything was softer but again oh so good. I was last chair of the season on Chair 9 and at 4:PM it was pretty damn fine! Coverage from Stump and Main Lodge up looks like it will easily make it to Memorial Day.

With Tahoe shutting down Mammoth should be good for a while.

    Mono Basin Update:
Took the SUPs out on Mono (my second time on one); it was super trippy but very cool. Many birds, a Charybdis, quicksand, and tufa islands galore. Odysseus would have been proud. Drop 'em in a Navy beach; have fun.

Ellery and Chute Out skied awesome, still pow-ish up high on northerly aspects! Transition to corn begins about 10,400 with full spring style below 10k. Watch out for thinly-veiled rocks as you lay down the arcs.

Dana and Solstice looked great, saw several parties shredding them. Talked to a snowboard dude who fell down Dana in the late afternoon on Saturday and escaped relatively unscathed...be careful! I bet Kidney is ridiculous corn, but you might have to simmer at the lake until the shade kicks in to re-ascend. Other Plateau lines good to go from their aprons up, so the drop in, boot back up method must be utilized. Have fun!

Attachment 136927 Powerhouse (sorry it's sidewise, computers are hard)

Attachment 136928 Ellery Bowl and Chutes

Skied False White. Somewhat unconsolidated on east aspects, but north aspects skied great. It was hot hot hot. Get it while it lasts.

On Saturday, Franz hit Solstice and Powerhouse, which goes to the bottom.

Hit Red Slate today. It was pretty good in the couloir and below. Lots of suffering.

Will be at Tioga solo tomorrow. Grey Tundra.

dayummm. that is ballsy to ski red slate w/ convict as burnt as it is. nice motivation.

skied some stuff on tioga today and it looks to be a short season on dana. stuff out towards saddlebag looked fat though and should be good for awhile. skied no name this am in quality corn. that line is in great shape and was ripe by 10. we then headed up canyon to climb and ski the dana couloir. the top pitch from the summit to the couloir was decent corn and the couloir itself was a mix of board and wintry chalk. the blue ice is showing itself already on the glacier. solstice looks decent and i have never seen the entrance look as easy as it is now. then up to the plateau for the powerhouse homerun. the lack of a fat snowpack has made the top of p-house steeper then usual. prolly best run of the day w/ settled sugary pow in the steeps and decent corn down the rest. can still ski to within 5 mins of car. ellery looks pretty bleak w/ chute out being the only clean looking line there. my partner looked down 3rd pillar and the chockstone is big and uncovered. ripper and coke are in good shape though you need to boot back up like 213 stated. gibbs n cirque is looking good also though one would need to ski kidney first to see if those gibbs lines go through. get it!!!!

and watch those sharp rocks on poole powerplant road. shredded a tire today. happened last year also in a pullout on the side of the pass.

also noticed this am that the gate was at the bathrooms top of the pass but was gone in the pm so i'd guess they now have it open to the park entrance

Taking a rest day today while AKBruin is on Tioga and I'm dealing with life! I skied Solstice with 3 locals on Saturday followed by a great run down Powerhouse (took the double fall line ramp). Yesterday, AKBruin and I finally ticked off the North couloir on Red Slate.

Anyone skiing tomorrow? I'm looking to come down tonight but would like to be able to do a car shuttle with someone at powerhouse so a link up could be made. Was thinking of hitting ripper from the bathrooms then climbing up coke and finishing on powerhouse. Sucks Ellery isn't looking that good.

Dropped Solstice solo at noon and found what gimpy describes in no name. Easy as it probably is, I still found the entrance to have some pucker.

BG- Franz and I may head over to Conness (or Dade) tomorrow. We were gonna do Ritter but the approach sounds horrendous.
