Sandy dumps "White Lightnning" in the highlands of West By God Virginia.
Well about 10 maggots just drove 13 hours south from as far as way from Cambridge, Vermont to ski snow left by a hurricane in West Virginia. Nature can be fucking bizarre!!

Vermont Plates in West Virginia

The snow was super dense wind affected and there was tons of it! There was not a single place that I stuck my pole that was less than 2 feet deep. The Majority of places were at least 36 inches deep with some lee sides easily in the 48 inchish range. IE my pole was stuck totally past my grip.
this is at the Base of Whitegrass touring center, and honestly one of the less deep places I found...

Day 1 took us to Whitegrass Touring Center. Which I was honestly like why are we here? knowing that Timberline had MUCH better pitch. Decided to go with the Flow and ski Whitegrass with the crew. We skied some fun albeit low angle open slopes, tree and meadow at Whitegrass. Never has meadow skipping been taken so literally.

good bye Timberline

Thincover has alot more pictures I am sure of it. My guess though is he exhausted from driving back to Vermont at 1pm yesterday. Overall a great trip totally worth it for sure. The snow is probably still good there. Go get some!

Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

FKNA, what a trip!
Not stoked at all to be at work right now, but I don't think you could slap the shit-eating grin off my face at this point. Totally awesome. Nice work guys. I would have been down with you guys if my skills weren't needed in these parts. Money talked in this situation so I had to pass the trip up. Glad it was successful, is great way to start the season!

Way to get it while the gettings good. I grew up skiing Timberline and they've gone entire winters without getting that much natural snow.

awesome, albeit pretty strange way to start the season. 52 hr road trip in an unlikely direction for some quality skiing.
good to meet some maggots down there and thanks to the locals for showing us around. esp dug the whitegrass experience, some kind folks that know how to make you feel at home with some moonshine and sandwiches and a hot fire. glad that places like it still exist.
also huge thanks to TC for driving 90% there and 100% of the way back. impressive performance. Cowboy neil at the wheel, the bus to never ever land.
looks like we got back to vt just in time for the notch closure due to snow...

Is that a typo or sarcasm? I thought I was the one that had the longest time in the car this week? 34 hrs Ottawa-Albany-West Virginia. Time includes the driving around Tuesday night and getting the lay of the land plus that beer run 3 towns away to find a open store with beer.
A total of 2800km for an epic trip. It was worth it.Ski Mad World

i meant 52 hours door to door, including skiing and (a little) sleeping.
