Jeremy Jones nominated as National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Go Vote!
Hey Mags,
We are stoked that Jeremy was nominated. He is up against a stacked crew, including spaceman Felix Baumgartner. Let's push him over the top!
Snowboarder Jeremy Jones
A snowboarding pioneer risked his career to usher in a new era of exploration in the world’s wildest mountain ranges.
Vote for Jeremy Jones
“There is no longer anywhere in the world that I consider too hard to get to,” says big-mountain snowboarder Jeremy Jones...."Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention to arrive safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: Wow!!! What a ride!"

Sorry. I gotta vote for Shannon Galpin. A woman (also friend and shop customer) that rides her bike around Afghanistan, working on the ground for women's rights and education. Total badass.

Anybody else think that Baumgartner doesn't really belong on there? I mean, he did something dangerous and badass, but it was part of a huge corporate publicity stunt and it wasn't much of a story of personal triumph or anything.

All are amazing athletes/adventurers and probably deserving of the title. Granted Baumgartner's exploit involved a great deal of publicity (partly because it was incredibly expensive). As far as pushing the limits of human achievement? He broke the speed of sound in fucking freefall, enough said.

Were skiers doing any of the multiple day AK tours slaying the biggest of the big mountains on film? Or were they doing the heli thing.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

I saw this post and was like, "really!? Jeremy Jones?"
And then I saw Further a couple days ago and I was like, "Yes. Jeremy Jones."
What the fuck is up with "Vote as much as you want" contests? Seems so sketchy.
