    Arrow Wasatch Conditions 12/13

Figured we should start this up, hopefully I have enough street cred . Most should know the deal by now.

    What to put here:
    Wasatch Backcountry Trip Reports
    Backcountry Snowpack and Weather Observations

    What not to put here:
    Resort Trip Reports
    Resort Ski Vacation Questions
    ROG's Observations

    IT'S ON!

Is there snow on the Alta summer road, and if so, will it last this week?

If it's not going to keep snowing, I wish it would melt off. Unless it rains to the peaks though, it'll probably stick around. Welcome to Wasatch Facet Watch 2012.

Most upper elevations cirques were windjacked or stripped with variable snow that made for some herky-jerky skiing. Best laps of the day were in upper elevations n-aspect glades. Still pretty awesome for rOcktober

I know this isn't the forum for it, but do any maggots know of local snowcat mechanics at Soli, Brighton, Alta, or Snowbird?

I need some advice and guidance with a hydrostatic transmission to make sure it's ready for winter.

    Thx.

60 in PC today. Most of our snow in the 7000-8000ft range has either melted or will in the next few days. Looking like the XC bike might at least get a few more Lost Prospector laps in.

I haven't been to the Wasatch recently, so I have nothing to report. I'll keep bringing more important updates as the winter progresses.

Going to be in Salt Lake Thursday through the weekend. Bring the bike or the skis? Leaning towards the bike.

Looks like a solid first couple days up north, thanks for the pics everyone. Been really enjoying the mountain bike and pretty indifferent to the coming ski season lately but these pics have got me starting to think about skiing again.

Also, not that I really care but if you put the word "backcountry" in the thread title it would eliminate 99.9% of all the extraneous ski area JONG crap. Just sayin. I thought there was a way to edit thread titles now, or maybe petition the powers that be to do it.
