EDIT: I've been working on what I'm going to call (for lack of a better description) an online community guidebook for Berthoud. I've got 70 lines from around Berthoud posted now and I'm going to throw up another 30 or so of the more obscure lines over the next few weeks. I'm working on getting decent photos of each line (if it ever snows) and integrating with CAIC and OpenSnow to provide avy forecasts for each line and snow forecasts for the area. My idea, longer term, is to open this up for people to post notes or comments about lines as well as uploading their own photos and trip reports. And even longer term to add many other zones around the state and hopefully start to provide a decently valuable reference for people looking for up to date conditions and community sourced notes on backcountry lines.
It's still only moderately useful at this stage but I present to you guys: GrandLin.es
Spot reserved for super secret project coming in November.
But for now I give you this: Berthoud.kmz
Via Stihletto from the 08-09 thread.
Here's to it not being last winter anymore...Last edited by georgio; 12-07-2012 at 01:06 AM.

Where is this cabin? Is it going to be public? Certainly looks like it will be private...

some dude posted on the FOBP facebook page saying he'd gone skiing up there already. I'd imagine that there is probably a little bit of grass skiing on the west side and east side runs to be had.

Got out just to check the conditions and ended up making a few (very cautious) turns today!!!!
Headed up to Jones Pass and wasn't too optimistic upon arrival at the trailhead.
Things really started to improve as we climbed and it was actually skinable from the junction of Jones Pass/Butler Gulch
We took the Butler Gulch route and ended up finding some nice 8-10"+ sections that (if done very carefully) were ridable.
After the warmup this week I think the rocks will be sticking up through the trail and it will be closed down until the next storm. Up high, another 12-18" before it really would be rippable.

Pinner, I went to the class at DU last week. Time well spent for sure, you did an excellent job. Came home, and signed up for my FOBP membership. Do I get a card in the mail to make use of the discounts?
Also, interested in trying to help out with the on-snow day. I've done my Level 1. Shoot me some info when you get a chance.I french kissed Kelly Kapowski.
