Just say no to WROD. Nice to see the guns fired up though. The race in the east has begun . . .

10-11-2012, 09:42 AM #5Now please go pedal your hipster ass off a long pier into the 3' "surf" that you rave about.. "Dude, the rollers were almost knee high! FUCKING SICK BRAH!!!! Now I'm going to pedal 9.45829 miles uphill both ways and find some chick to hit with chloroform to ensure that she won't run away.. Not sure if K-mart has a six pack that'd fit your head.. don't be upset if I tell you to shut the fuck up before the first lift tower or 'accidentally' slam the safety bar on your massive, un-helmeted, melon.

You mean "Killington made ice today" perhaps?

ice the rink and the snow will come!
last opening day the lifts served the wrod ice, but it was a pretty epic pow day on the rest of the mtn. 2 laps down cascade and hit nary a rock. didn't experience a better day til mid january.

To the terrible parents who will no doubt bring their total beginner kids to the hill on opening day to flail in the tightest crowds on the planet, I look forward to shoving your kids into the trees. I've been practicing my villainous laughter all week, so I hope you like it.

can't remember but think it was '00 and was in vt for thanksgiving and wanted to make some turns so hit killington. conditions were rather bleak. ominous start when you had to hop into the back of a F250 for a ride up to a lift for what little snow the WROD had. still had a blast dodging tourists and killing beers for a few hours.

Early season at Kmart is shitty and dangerous skiing, buts its still skiing. I'll ski that shitty snow, dodge tourists and pound over priced beers all day cause its better than not skiing.

the opening w/e WROD is usually not so bad - even when the rest of the mtn isn't poach-ready.
80% of the people are waiting in line for the NRT at any given time.
the danger usually begins when they go top to bottom. by then hopefully there's another lift-served option or two.

better/nice just to walk up to upper chair. good warmup and better than standing round in line.

the line is at the upper chair...most people only use the gondi once and that's high capacity.
agreed, not a bad hike though...
