Good shops for AT gear in DC area?

Setting up a friend of mine with full AT gear (skis, bindings, boots, poles, skins, beacon, shovel, probe, backpack). Usually you can get off a little cheaper in the US than here in Norway and as he is going to DC in november I wondered if there are any reputable ski shops in the DC area worth checking out.

    Thanx!

Ski Center in the Spring Valley neighborhood is far and away your best bet in the DC area. I think the REI out in Springfield, VA carries some ski inventory, but you're better off going mail-order if the Ski Center doesn't have the price or selection you're looking for.

Ski Center will be retail prices and even though I haven't been there in a few years, their clientele is definitely rich white guys and their family who ski summit county. Might be worth ordering from somewhere like backcountry, evo, etc. and paying for 2 day shipping to the hotel. Chances are the shipping will be less than DC sales tax which you wont have to pay on an online order.
Take everything you like seriously, except yourselves.

I will even pick up the gear in question from this gentleman at the Hamburg Road parking lot and return it to the District in exchange for a 6 pack to be split after riding!
