Yeah, that was tough to make out. I could barely hear most of it. I gather that there are some very ignorant, angry white folk though. Stereotypin like a mofo.
It would be nice if some of the hardcore rider friendly ski areas were snowboard only....like the Bird or Brighton. Or better yet,Baker! I can dream. Can't we all get along, shitheads?

Looks like somebody scored some sweet deals at the last ski swap!

I guess the loudness of the snowboards could be an issue if your skillset limits you to skiing groomers all day.

word bendtheski... as a boarder, i dig alta and have no issues with their skiers only deal. is what it is and its only what, one of three in the states? think that's kinda cool in a sense.

always all over that place after it closes in april, hiking it all summer long until it opens. hope to see you out there for some pre-season touring once the snow flies or maybe in april, ripping down main.

^Looks like Alta is home to a lot of grumpy old folks, or maybe it was senior discount day?
Some of my border buddies used to hike Mad River Glen early season when they got snow. In my 5 years in Warren/Waitsfield that was about the only time they got snow. Most of the time Sugarbush had better coverage and more terrain open.

In both cases though, they can do whatever they want and cater to whoever they want, I just wouldn't waste my money skiing there when there are arguably better options nearby. I don't really have a problem with boarder only mountains either, I just think the whole thing's kind of retarded. Skiing/riding with others is more fun than skiing/riding alone. I don't really care what method of snow-sliding their using, as long as they can keep up.

I'm kind of an old school bump-fag and used to be one of those idiots blaming snowboarders for ruining the bumps. Now it's kind of gone full circle with shaped skis and people making different radius turns which also changes the way bumps form. Instead of bitching about it, I've embraced the new shapes and adopted a little different technique; also, stopped punishing myself in the bumps all day.

People need to stop blaming snowboarders/people on shaped skis for their lack of skills and inability to adapt. There's still plenty of fun to be had, whatever your mode of snow-sliding.

    Pretty well sums it up.

Being both a skier and rider, it's all in good fun. A few of those Alta folks take it a little too seriously, but I still love Alta... and MRG.

I wish someone would open a snowboard only hill just so the snowboarders would shut the fuck up about it.

Seriously. I'm a snowboarder and I find this incessant whining about Alta obnoxious.

if you ever have skied alta and then skied any of the other choices around LCC and BCC you would realize alta blows for snowboarding.... traverse a day and a half to ski some shit trees

question is, do they allow ski blades?

Damn, the demographics for Alta skews to the older age groups, I see. That, and stupid people.

I think this was more about creating a funny and entertaining vid to watch then really making a difference. I think it worked. There is no real reason to not allow it other then bigotry and a mountain management that caters to that. As far as the traversing..........I don't work on my biceps all of the time but when I do I ski at Alta.

The reason is made excruciatingly obvious by the video: there is a considerable market for a snowboard-free ski area. It's a business - they can do whatever they want. get over it.

Don't get yer toast all burnt up 2266, I don't really care, I just find it entertaining. I do call it like I see it and it is bigotry.

It's not bigotry. They don't allow sledders or snow-tubers on 99.9% of the mountains. Are all those places bigots?

Come on, grow up. Were us snowboarders bigots when the parks started popping up and were snowboard only? Then they got all pissy when they turned them into "terrain parks" instead of "snowboard parks" and started allowing skiers. Give me a break.

the views of the folks in the video had no real reasoning to not allow it other than what basically amounts to we don't like them here, yes, that is bigotry. Once again, I don't give a crap, it was entertaining. I haven't been to Alta for skiing since 1999, I don't care what they do. I think the people in the video expressing their hatred toward people who slide a different way need to grow up though and they should feel embarrassed to be acting in such a way. I didn't think it was that serious tho, really. If that's a problem for you then GFY.

Dude, it was bigotry when my grandparents' store was arsoned. It was bigotry in the South during Jim Crow. The guy who killed all those kids in Norway was a bigot. Comparing Alta's policies on snowboarding to actual bigotry makes you sound like an idiot.

The term bigotry doesn't apply to things that are easily changed. Skin color, gender, ethnicity = tricky to change. Snowboard to skis = easy to change

Haha, this thread is bitchin. I will definitely not complain about any policy that significantly reduces the number of people at the resort, but that's just me being selfish. I ski and snowboard, but damn it's nice to just wave and continue up the canyon as I watch the bird track out in 10 minutes.

I'd like an area for people with 190+ skis only. Alot of those old fucks in the video on there 168 carving skis would be bitching just like the snowboarders. That would be fun.
