Andreas Fransson goes steep in Patagonia.

Nice blog and thoughtful write up here...
Enjoyed reading all about it from the comfort and safety of my arm chair.

    Phew!

Safety of armchair very appealing when seeing the photos. The man must have significant powers of concentration.

I always enjoy his musings and comments. He is a thinker - as well as a doer - and never afraid to expose himself in his writing (and evidently not in his skiing).

    Please stay alive, Andreas!

Great write up and a ballsy undertaking!

Also, a great quote from his post on the Manaslu tragedy:

"At the bottom we shock hands and said we should do it again sometime.

We never did. Winters pass by quickly in a skier’s world and he was busy guiding and I was busy doing my thing. Every time we met in town, we talked about lines and dreamt away on what we could ski together."

such truth! sobering words for us laymen as we await a new season.

the pow days, the stoke, the TR's, the joy, the discovery: seek it, enjoy it, cherish it.

Great blog entry here - I mean, the skiing is ridiculous and all, but his writing is spot-on.

The entire film, 'Tempting Fear', is Andreas reading the written words from his blog/diary. It's very interesting stuff - I think so, anyway. The film is premiering at the Adventure Film Festival in Boulder, Colorado Oct 5.

Great stuff, can't wait for the next episode to see the ramp, the few seconds of POV made me feel naseous... guessing those are some test skis for Salomon getting into lighter weight touring/mountaineering (probably be called Quest something)?

Episode 2 came out ... and I think Frandsson's narrative prose is my favorite of all ski mountaineers. I simply love the way he breaks down an experience, which is directly incomprehensible to 99.999% of the other people on the planet, into universal feelings and philosophies.

    So freaking awesome.

so does that mean he's quitting the extreme dangerous stuff?

edit: or rather, what does he mean that he's reached the limit in this direction and will now expand in another direction?

Saw Tempting Fear and Few Words at the Whistler Film Festival. Tempting Fear has definitely stuck in my mind a lot more, you did a hell of a job there sir. Some of the POV footage was downright unsettling.

Is there a link to this? I couldn't find it. How long is the video. This guy is amazing. His descent on the backside of Denali was epic!

A couple of those helmet cam shots made me feel sick. I swore aloud. That normally doesn't happen to me.
