    Taos Comp

A storm hit just in time for the comp. 15 of 18 girls skied today, then vis got too bad. The other three girls and the guys are supposed to ski tomorrow, but that's obviously weather dependent. So, not great for the comp, but the conditions are awesome for freeskiing. Coming from Squaw the utter lack of attitude out here is refreshing. And the terrain is great. Actually scratch that, Taos sucks, don't come here.

I have done a couple week long trips to Taos and have one coming up in March. It is really a great place. My trips have been w/ friends who ski bummed a couple winters at Taos and I got shown lots those great hidden little areas.

BTW: I highly recommend a late lunch at the Bavarian. you only have to ski the road back to the base, so you can enjoy "few" of those big beers

I was in Taos this morning (now in SC) and was seriously impressed with Taos. We shredded untracked tree pow all day and scoped some seriously burly lines. Definitely the sickest lines in all of the rockies.

    Good luck in the comp.

I hope you're saying hi to everybody (except frenchmen and those who include the term "wild" in their name) for me.
Is there someplace I can see results??
Is it los Taosenos killing it in the low vis?

    NM Extreme Freeskiing Championship Update

    February 12, 2005
    Taos Ski Valley, NM

    SATURDAY:

The update on the Freeride competition is that it is on hold due to weather. There will be a competitor’s meeting at the base of the venue at 10am. Tom Winter, Chief of Race, says the goal is to at least finish the women’s category from yesterday and then make a plan depending on visibility. Updates will be posted on the skitaos.org website.

Since the night I watched eight guys attempt to throw Craig out of the Beaver after he KO'd some touron, I knew he had superhuman capabilities. Glad to see him put that to some damn good use.

Ha!! I was meaning to ask you Tahoe boyz if you knew Spoon. We used to ski together at WP/Berthoud all the time. One of the most down to earth rippingest ex-bumpesr ever. Plus the bump coach who failed his wiz quiz turned competetive freeskier is a great story. I'm sure Rodent99 knows him as well, might even have been his coach.

Actually, believe it or not- we didn't cross paths much when I was at The Jane. A few of my friends knew him real well- I think he was a few years older(?). But fucking sick skier, no doubt!

Oh and Congrats to Lynsey- what a great gal and quite the dominating skier. I hope she's having a stellar season at Jackson.
