    Jenny Lake Campground Beta

Has Jenny Lake still be filling up every night? Heading up tomorrow evening and I'm trying to figure out my best chances for a campground. I've got my spot (see below) that I know will be available but it's off the beaten path and would like to save it for the end of the week when I'm winding down. Few climbs/hikes planned that make Jenny Lake ideal for a jump off point for activities during the day.

Any advice on a Yellowstone campground btw? The girlfriend and I are keen to maybe stay a day up there this year.

I don't really know, but I would think that after Labor day during the week would be alright??? Again, I don't know.

Sweet spot in your pic. Pretty sure we stayed there last summer. It's not that close to Jenny Lake if I recall correctly. Probably closer options if Jenny Lake cg were full.

Town still feels full, but that could change after the weekend.

My advice, try and get there round noon when people are packed out.

Otherwise, Shadow is badass and not that far out of the way. And free.

I know this past weekend the wildlife film festival was going on, I think it got over today. Looking forward to high ABV on tap when I get in.

Jenny has still been filling, mid afternoon-ish. Could always hit gros ventre campground that evening, Jenny the next day.

I'm not sure how long most of the campgrounds in yellowstone are open. They're all pretty cramped save for bridge bay campground and the campgrounds up in the NE corner of the park (slough creek & pebble creek - which are by far the best in the park IMO). Lewis Lake is closest to the tetons, but I'm not real keen on that campground.

The campgrounds down in the tetons tend to be a lot more spacious, prettier, and cheaper than their cousins to the north - I think that's because there's such easy access to free camping (Shadow Mtn, for example).

I stayed in the Madison campground in Yellowstone 2 days ago, it didn't fill up until 6pm, but it's a big campground.

I think 3 of the campgrounds in Yellowstone are closed for the season, Indian Creek is one of them.

I stayed in the Coulter Bay campground in GTNP the night before that, we rolled in around 9pm and it still had lots of space, it is also a big campground.

I bet you could call a ranger and find out more really easy.
that's all i can think of, but i'm sure there's something else...

Called it quits on Yellowstone, can't wait for a few key spots under the radar, thanks

Where to get breakfast in Jackson on Friday morning? Last time I was there I almost murdered my girlfriend one morning as she brought me to THREE PLACES that didn't serve bacon... I want thick bacon, how hard is that to ask?

My main breakfast place is the Virginian. They have bacon, and killer old-school omelets. Nothing fancy, just good portions and reasonable prices. FYI Jenny filled at 6:37 last night...

The single best source of water in the Valley- well, that one can get to easily- is the faucet by the dumpster and the big tree just behind the check in booth.

Elixir of life right there buddy

Bubba's went downhill when they changed hands/moved across the street.

Bubbas doesnt cut it for me anymore. The Working Man's sp went up, the food quality is half ass and the place is stale.

Love the virg! My go to is an omelette with sausage, onions, tomatoes and Cheddar. Damn fine breakfast.

One of my favorite camping spots in GTNP is South Landing, a 1/2 mile hike to the south part of Jackson Lake. Not sure if you have a camping or you are gonna be in tent. Check out the website my buddy built: youryellowstonevacation.com. It has all the cool roadside stuff, I use it for times when I wanna be a gaper or tell a gaper where to go. If you are backpacking into spots I would recommend Firehole Falls up in YNP, I can think of off the top of my head.

Agree on Nora's and The Virg.

You might consider Lizard Creek on the north end of Jackson Lake for camping. The "walk in" sites are about 50' off the road and are right on the lake. Also a great staging are for days trips into southern Yellowstone. Doesn't fill up as fast as Jenny.

Great call on Lizard, it did already close this season, on Sept 3rd.
