[SPAM] 2012-13 Binding Freedom Inserts are available now (coupon code inside)

We now have stock of our 2012-13 stainless steel threaded inserts on sale at www.bindingfreedom.com. These are the highest quality threaded ski inserts ever made and we think you'll love them.

They are compatible in every way with previous generations of inserts, but this season we are able to step up to a top tier contract manufacturer and put in place a much more demanding quality control process. While the improvements may not be obvious at first glance, the perfectionists out there will appreciate our attention to the details including:

    • A cleaner-cut installation slot allowing us to reduce its depth without reducing its effectiveness
    • Outer threads all the way to the top for better bite in the ski topsheet
    • Class 6H interior threads to DIN 13 specification
    • Inserts are chemically passivated for superior epoxy adhesion and corrosion resistance
    • Higher grade Stainless Steel alloy for superior strength and corrosion resistance

Threaded inserts and installation tools are IN-STOCK now and ready for immediate shipment.

POZI-DRIVE M5 screws are coming. I had to sink some $$ on tooling and because of this, the lead-time is still not verified. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have them by mid-fall but don't hold your breath.

Hot damn! Was just about to order some inserts today but decided I needed to measure for some screws for MFD Alltimes before ordering. Now with a 10% discount? Sweetness!

So, anybody know how long the screws should be for an MFD Alltime mount? Bought these from a mag and didn't come with screws.

Did anyone ever figure out the screw for Axls?

jondrums, if not could I order one from 22 designs and have it sent to you... I,m thinking that I need to reduce my binding quiver to one pair of axls and a tech binding...
I don't work and I don't save, desperate women pay my way.

Jon not sure how far down this path you are already, probably too far by the sounds of it but these guys have a bit of a selection of SS M5 machine screws in both 304 and 316, maybe not all possible lengths but quite a few at least. As an example:

    http://www.anzor.co.nz/machine-screw...inless/product
Other head shapes also available, note that terminologly here is a bit different from in the states. I know we are half a world away from you guys but at least we are in the half that isn't weirded out by metric stuff and these guys were super helpful with helping me get the right bits for my inserts

Does anyone know shops in the Denver area that would install inserts? I don't have a work bench or tools to do this myself...

If you're confident in your hand tool skills you should be fine with the basic install kit that Jon sells. Of course, you need a drill, but those are easily borrowed. I've done a few pairs just set out on the floor, and although not ideal it does work.

Just pick up a 2x4 and practice a few times first... It's a bit of an initial time/effort investment, but it pays dividends every time you get another pair of skis...

Great find! any idea if its Pozi-3 or Pozi-2? already pulled the trigger on tooling, but I'm still confident what I'm making will have its place. There's very little chance anyone else in the world is making the exact head styles that are needed, since the exact dimensions have become a standard only in the ski industry - I can't say any more except that when they come out, you'll see what I mean.

Anyone know of someone doing inserts in SLC? I rather just pay someone to ensure its done right the first time.

Just got mine in today--fast shipping...thanks Jondrums! I pulled them out of the bag and fondled them and they all look top notch. Ordered some tools as well. I am a tool snob, and I will say these are all first class install tools as well. You could spend as much buying cheap Chinese-made shit and get nowhere near the quality of tools Jondrums sells for the same price. Buy from this man!!

I think Bent Gate in Golden does them (and they have a huge selection of DPS skis that one can fondle).

I'm sure if you ask nicely and bribe, someone on the board might help you. I'm an idiot with this kind of stuff and it was pretty painless for me to install them.

Another question, do I grab the M5 screws on the website to pair up with the inserts correct?

yes, the inserts work with any metric M5 fastener, which we do sell on the site. You might also find them in a decent hardware store, but it can be tough to get stainless.

Order placed. The folks at MFD said their regular install screws are 5.5X11. I ordered the M5 10mm from jondrums. Will report back when they arrive and also update the thread if these are correct.

Are the inserts compatible with the plates you make?

Then you could conceivably have 1 set of plates and 2 pairs of bindings for an entire quiver if they all had plates mounted to them with Binding Freedom Inserts. It would probably be a pain in the ass to do all that switching, but I guess if you like fiddling with gear and are cheap...

    +1
The ski tech at BG that I talked with in May said that they will install inserts, I don't recall the fee though.
