Clicking boots into dynafits when you aren't wearing the boots..
Since we are talking about packs, and ski carrying...
Is there a trick to this? Pretty much the only way I have been able to do it is if I put the ski on a flat surface and press the boot down with all my weight.. and it is still hard, and sometimes (like in a parking lot) its hard to find a place to set my ski where I can press it down like that...

Click the tires in, put the binding in tour mode, and let the rear swing freely.

Do like rod9301 says, and just put the toes (tires?) in, lock the toepieces, and let them flop.
If the flopping really bothers you, push the heel plates down over the heelpiece pins first, then push the toes into place while lifting up on the toe lever a little.

heel first, toe second. Or just smash the heels in with reckless abandon. Brute force is the American Way.

Just put it in... Then let the heels drive down

Just to clarify, the key with putting the heels in first is that you kind of slide the heel in backwards, so that nearly zero force is required (as the heel pins are never separating outward from each other, as in a normal entry). With the heel pins thus inserted into the boot socket, the toes are easy.
For those stuck in the Northeast, follow my NE Rando Race Series and check out my avalanche course. (For other avalanche course providers anywhere, feel free to use any of my "homework" assignments for your own courses too.)
