Anyone ride a Reign with a 160 mm fork?
I'm eventually looking at swapping out the Fox 32 Float 150 (520 mm a2c) that came on my Giant Reign (2012 frame). Most of my riding is focused on the way down and I'd like to get something a bit stiffer to stay better behaved in the rough stuff.
Has anyone ridden a Reign with a 160 mm/545 mm a2c fork?
My thoughts are to reduce whatever fork I get to 150 mm which would only increase a2c by 15 mm rather than 25 mm, but am wondering if the effects of the longer fork are beneficial to the bike's handling.
One thing I've been trying to figure out but haven't managed to yet is the exact difference between the Reign and Reign X frame. The X is obviously beefier and has some different features, but are the angles on the Reign and Reign X the same? Would a 160 mm fork on a regular Reign give me the geometry that's listed for the X?Last edited by D(C); 08-23-2012 at 01:19 PM.

I think you'd be hard pressed to tell much of a difference at that height. My bike came with a 120 fork and I have a 150 revelation on it lowered to 130. I've noticed no ill effects and will probably remove a spacer to set it at 140 the next time I service the fork.

I had an 09 reign frame size large with a lyric two-step 160 mm fork 50 mm truvativ aka stem and deity dirty 30 bars. Road like a mini DH bike in long travel and peddled pretty well in short travel with the pro pedal on my DHX 4. Highly recommended for the extra stiffness with the 20 mm through axle. Ran crossmax SX wheels on there too. Bomber bike, throw a gravity dropper on too and you're so money you don't even know it.
