Boulder stage : Pro Cycling Challenge
What's everyone's plan for the day. I really want to be up on Flagstaff, but I'm trying to figure out what time I would need to start riding up the hill. It looks like they're predicting a finish between 3:34 and 3:54. Kinda thinking about going to see the start of the race that day, and then heading up. Anyone have any plans on this yet?

Make sure you get your wristband if you're thinking of going up Flagstaff.

We're potentially leading a group ride from town at 7am, up lefthand to Oldstage, then back to town and up flagstaff, hoping to be up by 10am. Everyone is welcome. After that, down to the BCSM booth downtown for recovery drinks, massages etc.
After that I'll probably be in the downtown VIP area for work.

I'm thinking of starting my day North of Golden on 93. I think it will be an easy spot to see the peloton, and then a quick drive to Boulder. I'm just wondering how early we need to be riding up Flagstaff to get a spot. I would hate to get there and get turned away.

We'll be watching from the Boulder Canyon KOM and partying in Ned. It isn't too often you get to have a race like this come through your own little mountain town with KOM points below your house!
I may have extra wristbands if friends don't claim them.

They are limiting the number of spectators on Flagstaff? That sucks and sort of defeats the excitement of a mountain finish.

^^^ Our Ned hometown hero is Timmy Duggan, but we'll be cheering on everyone.
30,000 are allowed on Flagstaff. Since it only goes to the amphitheater I bet 30,000 would be a solid showing. They were figuring out how they wanted to do things on Flagstaff when forest fires were happening seemingly every day in the county. They were possibly going to pull it all together from Flagstaff, so it seemed like a good compromise.
The timetables are on the UP Pro Website, but the page is down right now. I think I remember that they are projecting them to do it in like 25 min from the mouth? Blazing!

I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. With a toddler, Flagstaff seems a little difficult. So I'm thinking of just picking some place in town that I can get to easily, maybe where they make a turn so I can see them handle the curve.

Wife, myself and our 2 boys will be up on Flagstaff, probably as far as we dare ride or walk with my "mini-me"s.

We have our wristbands
I just read the code of conduct on that link and it doesn't say anything about a Modus Hoperandi or Iowegian ban up there so I should be good to go.

Does Flagstaff Road connect up with Hwy 72 in Coal Creek Cyn? From the map, I cannot tell what Gross Dam Rd is like?

It does connect. Its dirt, but I don't remember anything worse than "significantly washboard-y"

I'm thinking it'll be easier to come around the long way from Denver, as opposed to driving in on 36 or 93 during the middle of the day, after they've made their way up Boulder Canyon..maybe park above the finish on Flagstaff and hike down?

so, reading here: http://www.usaproboulder.com/events/ they say that "The second time the group of riders will come through will be approximately 2:20 (leaders) - 4pm (estimated remainder of pack)." WTF? 1:40 difference?

i heard from someone working the events that the riders are finishing MUCH sooner than anticipated on every stage so far. So expect to see them sooner than later.

Set up at about 1.3 mile switchback with Surly's. We have music and Margs and modus and even a friends baby girl! Wife is wearing a New Glarus jersey and I am wearing a Dales jersey. Ask for change and steal a modus from me!
