How's that flex on the Lotus? I don't know much about 'em, but it sounds like a great ski.
Looking for something that can pretty much do anything. Rip hard, hit cliffs and scrub speed fast and easily if necessary as well as trees. Would they be able to do it?

Flex 2.
fairly round flex, stiffer in the tail, a little softer in the tip.
i'd say that the 120 would definitely meet your needs.
they crush open faces and the pin tail design allows one to throw them sideways/sink the tails to scrub speed and make smaller radius turns.
(just make sure to drive the tips).
very light.
very low swing weight for a fatty.

Sounds sweet. Are they light? I think of pairing them with Dukes or MFD/FKS, would that be doable? I'm in good physical condition (21 y/o), 6'5, 200lbs. Not looking for tours longer than 2 hours pretty much.
Just a little unsure about the price.

08-16-2012, 12:20 PM #64.4lbs per ski so yes they are light for their size. I skied my 190cm pures with dukes and had no problem with it. Very similar specs to you, young tall and strong. FWIW that price is awesome for those skis. Pures can go for 300$ more on here in winter time. Not to mention they are the rare 200cm length.Sounds sweet. Are they light? I second all of this. Such a great ski. I guess thats why I bought the other pair of the flex 3s that pluff bought...they crush open faces and the pin tail design allows one to throw them sideways/sink the tails to scrub speed and make smaller radius turns.

If you are looking for something a little more turny and easier to ski maybe check out the 112rp. But to be fair you will probably pay close to that for a pair of 112s and you really cannot go wrong with the 120...
Also Pluff is a great guy and you don't have to worry at all about dealing with him. I've done deals in the past and hope to again in the future.

Search TechTalk for info on the L120.

Big for the Lhasas? What kind of length should I be skiing then? A 205 something? They don't come much bigger than 200cm right? I just know of some 205 models, but nothing longer.
They sound great! It's just that it has 2 sets of holes already, me adding the third and I don't think many people will buy a ski with 3 sets of holes in them already, unless someone is willing to buy them of me with a pair of Large Dukes in mid-january.
Also, do these have a speed limit? I'm no Ligare, but I like to think I ski pretty hard.

pics of the hole patterns on the 120s? I'm very interested but I'd like to try and estimate what I could squeeze into.

esales - thank you for the kind words (i'll get you for sniping me on that flex 3 ft12 set-up )
).
we should reunite nattydred's flex3's at Silverton this year, no?
tijmendal - banosser was talking about the 186 Lhasa Pows that i also have up for sale (they are also very versatile).
the 2hundo 120s sounds right for someone of your stature. (and esales speaks the truth the 200s are more difficult to find).
however, they're not that hard to throw around, in large part because of their light weight.
(for reference i'm 5'10" 150#, but i like long skis and am the best skier on this board
)
no speed limit that i've reached (i like to charge and am not too bad).
regarding resale: i would be surprised if someone wouldn't want these with dukes at the end of next season.
(i wouldn't selling them if i hadn't picked up a replacement pair).
regarding the number of mounts and possibility of future mounts the following applies to both the Lotus and the Lhasa:
each have one standard mount (the Lotus has been drilled for AXL; the Lhasa for dynafit).
the second mount on each ski is for a SollyFit plate which has a MUCH wider mounting footprint than any ANY binding, and thus, for the sake of future mounting conflicts can be effectively disregarded.
DPS skis (and from what i hear, PM Gear skis as well) both have a good reputation for withstanding multiple mounts. In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...

btempleton - my previous post addresses some of your concerns regarding potetial mounting conflict.
the only mount to really worry about (unless you plan on mounting plates of some nature) is the AXL mount.
what are you planning on throwing on them? (and what's your BSL?).
if you're serious i can take off the plates and throw some templates on them.
have you picked up a pair of 120s yet?
i know that you have at least lusted.

yeah, I've owned some older 120's. After demo'ing a newer pair last year and loving the increased rocker profile, I thought some 200cm would be the absolute jam for all 8"+ days. I'd probably be throwing either sollyfits or just solomon bindings on them. Perhaps FKS. for 315 BSL, preferably around +2.

Ok, that's some good info right there.
Would you be able to maybe print out a duke mounting template and put that one the ski to see if it conflicts with the existing holes/mounts?
-
08-16-2012, 10:15 PM #15
they are a kick in deep stuff.
Sollyfits @ +2 would be fine (current Sollyfit mount is @ +1).
IIRC solly @ +1 was no good; would have to check @ +2.
i never looked at FKS on these, would have to check that out as well.
can do, large or small duke?In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...

You wouldn't by chance be looking to get rid of the skins that I assume you have and sollyfit/dynafiddles with the lotuses, would you? Cuz that's pretty much my dream deep setup.
-
08-18-2012, 05:28 PM #20
^^^ i need to keep the dynafits.
the skins and sollyfit could be negotiated.
(though i would prefer to keep them, i was planning on moving everything over to my new flex 3s).
jondrums has sollyfits in stock on his bindinfreedom.com site.

i have a pair, not included in the $450 + ship price.
lightly used BD Glide Light skins (L?XL?, whatever the longest size is).
i was going to use them for my 190 flex3s.
if i put them in the package it would add $100.In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...

where's monument? (where would they be shipping from). With all these questions, these things gotta move soon! I want them bad, but I'm trying to exercise a little restraint until I can definitely afford them.
