    Crankworx coverage

I'm covering some of the Crankworx events for Blister while I'm up in Whistler. Opening night was pretty tame. There was a crit race and a couple of bands playing. I figured Lopes would destroy everyone for the crit but he ended up dropping out, not sure why. Carl Decker got out in front pretty quickly and stayed way out in front. The more interesting race ended up being for 2nd and 3rd.

    Rest of the pics here

Pics from the Enduro, Dual Speed & Style and Garbanzo DH should be up soon.

The 4th and final stage of the Canadian Open Enduro. This section of the race was held on Whistler's new Top of the World trail. A fast, rocky loose section of trail that managed to claim a few people.

Starting to get into a little more action, the Dual Speed and Style was pretty fun to watch. Speed ended up winning out but I think if Lecondeguy didn't crash on the runout it may have been a different story.

I couldn't immagine racing the Garbanzo DH. These guys must be destroyed by the bottom of the mountain. It's a 3400' descent starting at the top with some of the more technical trails at Whistler. A new record time was set this year by Steve Smith.

    Dude that's my bike.

The Enduro was super fun. Transitions stages were a bit tight, glad I've been riding and training for another event in September so it wasn't really a big deal for me. Had a small bobble on Stage 2 loosing my xc lid off my pack after clipping a tree and lost time running back to get it.

Stage 4 was pretty cool. Fairly tame compared to the Garbo courses we've used for the Four Jacks and Four Queens and ridden on trail bikes. On the high speed stuff after the turn off to Kyhbers Pass I twisted a chain link due to excessive chain slap. It meant I could only get a couple pedal strokes in and constantly dropping chain down off the inside of my front ring. I really should have had a chain guide of some sort on it. I'll be getting a Shadow Plus rear mech to hopefully solve it on future events.

Enduro has me stoked to race again. I raced xc back in the mid 90's and have done a couple DH races over the years, neither really had me wanting to get competitive again.

Ah, Whistler fashion. If it's stupid, impractical, and/or unsafe, some ripper at Whistler is wearing/not wearing it.

Sweet photos. Those guys are able to get about 90 degrees more out of their whips than I do.

Last nights pump track challenge. Utah had a very strong showing, Cody Kelley was looking really fast and flowy and Mitch took the win.

Cody Johnson was looking super fast all night

Semenuk was heavily favored to win the Redbull Joyride but unfortunately couldn't pull off a clean run.
