Kelly, since we've played nice, think we could just get a little peak at the girls?

Don't forget to tell her about the nice cool evenings on the patio, and the rental that just opened up in our neighborhood.
4 AM? Seriously?
We're 35-45 min away from Northstar, Squaw/Alpine, ........You drive like a granny on Sunday morning?
If you're in town now, give us a shout.
Go out?
Why not suggest that she bring over a bottle of tequila and we can make margaritas?
Kelly, welcome to Reno.Sometimes you have to let your bad self ski...

Re keeping an eye out for teaching jobs in Truckee--there are actual and threatened layoffs every year in California schools, including Truckee, the state budget is bad and getting worse with no improvement in the foreseeable future. Sounds like you have a good thing in Reno. Your bilingual credential should be a big asset in Truckee though, if you do decide to look here. Welcome to the Sierra.

Thanks all! I arrived yesterday and have a million things to do between setting up home and classroom. I can't wait until things settle down and I can start exploring! When that does happen (within a few weeks) I shall suggest a get-together (for all who have not made creepy comments pertaining to my body parts) - the brewery sounds great. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple from this board last week and cannot believe the kindness of people so far. Thank you!

Welcome to Reno! Like yourself, I moved here from PA. I couldn't see myself ever moving back. Weather sucks there, and many outdoor activities here.
Your school is in a pretty awesome part of town. If I were you, I would seriously consider living in the old southwest triangle of Marsh - Arlington - Mt. Rose St. It is desirable and expensive there, but there are some rentals. Nice flat neighborhood for biking and quick access to town and your work. Other than that, these guys gave some solid advice on NW Reno for TH access. Passes: Alpine/Squaw, and if you ski a lot get Northstar/Heavenly/Kirkwood as well. They just opened up the I580 connector, so it will shave off some minutes for the south shore resorts. (KW is a haul no matter what).

Probably a little of both 1 and 2, and it is very nice to see that chivalry is not dead. It's hard for a single gal to pick up and move all by herself and I cannot express how much the information provided here has helped to soothe my mind and help me become more excited and less stressed for the move! I'm heading out in the jeep tomorrow and hope to find a place right away - then fly back to CO to pick up the UHaul with the rest of my stuff. You all have been wonderful, this has been the best place I can ever imagine for advice as to moving to the area. Good karma is coming your way, for sure. If I can buy you all a beer in about a week or 2, you all let me know when and where. Thanks so much!
