    Black Diamond Apparel Clothing Outerwear

I know this stuff is coming down the line in 2013. Did they have any on display at SIA?
I have seen some really cheap fleece and other products in stores for about a year or so that are labeled Black Diamond but I know this can't be the same stuff.

No, it was not on display at SIA or at the Summer OR show. My understanding is that buyers for BD dealers will start to see the line in October, and that release isn't until fall 2013.

Heard from inside that they hired Arc'Teryx designer. Clothing will be cheaper than Arc and it is supposed to be tight. Line has been made available for preview by retailers.

Cheaper meaning?..... Not $500-$1000 Retail for a jacket maybe?

Other BD gear is bomber and priced good. Hopefully soft goods will follow suit
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

BD used to make some soft good stuff. I have a BD Schoeller shirt that's about 10 years old that I used to use for ice climbing, mixed climbing etc.

I can see it taking off in the ski world....I mean...the name, every gorby will want to announce that they ski black diamonds.

The cheap stuff is made by Double Diamond Sportswear, which used to be called Black Diamond Sportswear.

Regarding BD's new line, anyone know if it's being made in NA or Asia? I'm assuming the latter, just curious.

Received this in an email from a firm that attended some sort of small retailer show:

    • So what will be launched next fall? BDE will launch a 24 item (jackets, pants and vests) set in three distinct categories that vary in warmth and overall application (Dawn Patrol, Stance & Access and Crag, Solution and Coefficient). Pricing at the retail level ranges from the low $100’s to the high $300’s and is roughly 50% less at the wholesale level. BDE has partnered with a variety of companies to position themselves within the apparel market i.e. Recco (private), Alvanon (private), Bluesign (private), Schoeller (private), Primaloft (private) and Polartec (private). The Reeco system is a two-part technology with over 30 years of refinement and used by over 600 ski area and search / rescue teams worldwide to locate individuals that are lost or buried in an avalanche. Alvanon, a NYC company founded in 2001 has a database of over 700k body types with a mission to be the industry’s global size and fit expert. BlueSign, a Swiss company founded in 2000, enhances supply chain efforts and also works with The North Face (subsidiary of VF Corp.) and Nike (NYSE:NKE, Not Covered).

o Dawn Patrol – “very warm” (retail $199 - $399). The Company partnered with Schoeller – a Swiss company to take advantage of two core technologies, a stretch woven fabric that is optimally breathable and a water, oil and dirt repellent known as NanoSphere that keeps your product looking clean and new season after season.

o Stance & Access – “mid-warmth” (retail $169 - $299). BDE partnered with Primaloft – a U.S. company and leader in fiber R&D for high performance insulation and yarns. Primaloft insulation was originally developed for the U.S. Army as a water resistant alternative to down and is globally recognized as the world’s best synthetic insulation.

o Crag, Solution and Coefficient – “Fleece” (retail $109 - $189) BDE partnered with Polartec – a U.S. company with roots back to 1906 and a U.S. military use through World War II. Today, Polartec has over 300 different fabrics to keep you warm, dry and comfortable in a variety of outdoor activities or simply walking around town.

    • All of the above products are for men and BDE anticipates a women’s launch in fall 2014. Initially, BDE will focus on women’s outerwear plus hard-shell and down and then migrate into women’s climbing and rainwear for the spring of 2015. The Company has hired three female designers to facilitate the women’s launch and we expect more details as the launch approaches.

that's pretty much what I was told, with the addition of rolling in the POC and Pieps products into the line at the same time - personally, I like where they are going with this

Btw, who knows what is the relationship between bd and arc'teryx? The owners are different, but their stands are always near by at ispo and outdoor, and they always look as synerigic
