Check out the yr.no app.

Partly cloudy looks pretty good for weather. I liked paper for drawing stuff and just messing around.

Hi def weather radar by NOAA is a great app. Also NW weather radar is great one stop shopping for winter weather including snowfall, forecasts, etc if you are in the NW...

Freeskier App/Podcast, Ski Report and the trusty rusty angry birds. But really at least the first two.

Evernote is awesome across PC/Mobile/Tablet - make sure to equip yourself with the Outlook and browser plug ins to send any content to Evernote for future use. Everything lives in the cloud. Free with premium option, expense the premium option if you can.

Also - If you're an Amazon Prime member, get their video app - can't mirror across screens, but you can watch a lot of content that is not free anywhere else on your iPad.

Actually I meant to say NW snow buddy. Check it out in the app store even if you aren't in the NW. It would be cool to see snow buddy apps for more regions.
