This post falls far short of the unprecedented retro-grouchery that we've all come to know and expect from FrankZappa. Try to be more bitter/nostalgic next time.

I was once skiing with a bunch of friends in East Vail. My friend backed off a cliff cuz he was skeered. Then the girl I was dating at the time hucked it and stomped it. Remember that Evil E?

Vail ski instructor, Eric Nesterinko who is now in his late 70s, in a former career was a star hockey player with the NHL Chicago Blackhawks in the 1950s and 60s. Stanley Cup Champion team mates included Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Phil Espesito, Moose Vasko and Glenn Hall.

Nesterinko had a reputation as a crazy man in a fight so you did not want to get him riled up.

I totally remember that day! I also remember beatering into the entrance and snapping a pole in half. Followed by dropping a cliff, bouncing on shitty slop snow, and double ejecting on the landing. I figured after all the fun I was having I should probably pack it in since my next step up would be a fucking spiral fracture. Most days Im feeling great and having a blast on my skis. That day was not one of them. Thanks for bringing up a painful day where girls kick my ass you big bearded meanie. Lets hope it actually snows this year so I can get some redeption.

    my perfect days is:

    +taking a shot of vodka at 6:30am on a 1" pow day.
+talk to evil e about axioms and explaining how spatulas work, and why he should try them
+watch a sweet blurred helmet cam of park skiing and robbing banks
+discuss the environmental impact of a copper-to-vail gondola with mogadishu
+jump-turns in the "woods" (i.e. thicket of brush) with shera
+skiing inbounds hardback mogul laps with iskibc
+teaching summit about all the things he does not understand in the backcountry, snow science, first aide, and showing him of how to use a camera, and have him teach me to front flip in east vail.
+go on a tour with lone star and have him duct tape his skins on every lap.

    ...sigh...

of course waking up next to my wife, playing with my baby, then skiing 15,000 vert of haines spine runs, eat a rocking burger at 33 mile, drink some bourbon and do it all has to suffice these days

i forgot to add that i ought to make Z take a "tray-shot", almost get arrested, then walk home in a blizzard and watch d-side front flip into every possible bush. that would cap a perfect day off.

Holy crap, I'm older than dirt - I remember drinking and playing 'liar's poker' with Eric Nesterinko in Butch McGuires on Rush Street years ago . . . in fact, he took my dollar, ripped it in pieces and told me a "lady" should not be playing bar games - still have it right here within my reach . . . funny to see that name again

The challenging bit here is when does one become known? Blurred, for example, while definitely legendary, is quite well known from his starring role in many webisodes.

You are not a real artist until you are dead. My word goes out for Brent Newton, living? No. Legend? Yes. Absolute legend. Best skiing man I have ever known. Total unknown Hero.

When I saw RaisingArizona post, I was sure that BJ Boyle, Snowbowl Patrol Director, was going to be added to this list. I'll do it instead.

I thought you were talking about me, cause I remember a day like that. 'cept the day I was thinking of, Evil E sent this sketchy looking drop with a bunch of rocks and willows poking out of the face. that was right after I got the blower-est straightline ever on Xscreams, and just before that kook who thinks I duct tape my shit sold me some sweet ass blizzard pow skis with no edges and bindings that were so above my league that they only came off once- on the 100 inch pow day at wolf creek when half of our group got their passes pulled for jumping off the lifts.

JFK, Joe Kelly is the man. Skies every day even though it is the same run under a chair with switch turns and all. Classic freestyle attitude. Look at me I am cool and you wish you could do this every day. JFK will be skiing the same line when he is 90 and today he is only in his ?0's living legend for sure
