Snowmass / Aspen Camping options for Jazz fest Labor Day Weekend????

Mrs. Danadog and I are headed to the Jazz fest over Labor Day weekend and are in need of some advice for camping / overnight parking options in the Aspen/Snowmass area. We have a slide-in camper for our truck, so don't need hook-up options, running water, etc. Rustic camping will do just fine. We've serched online with no luck. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check out the primitive campgrounds up Lincoln Creek off of the west side of Indy Pass. Might be a little further than you'd like to drive to/from Snowmass, though.

    Thanks.
Yes that is little further than we were hoping to find. We are open to the basalt area as we understand the bus is only $4.

trailhead at the end of snowmass creek would fit the bill. no campground proper, but rustic pullouts for camping.

snowmass village is not actually up snowmass creek, but there is a short dirt road that continues past the end of the ski area and cuts over to snowmass creek. it would be a walkable distance from the trailhead to the village.

or you could go back out the the hwy, down valley a few miles, and back up snowmass creek itself.

closer to aspen itself, up castle creek towards ashcroft the same type of camping options are there, but you can drive up much higher in this drainage to get the big mountain views.

i'd split my time depending on the concert venues for the day. no need to go as far down valley as basalt.

Ashcroft. 10 minutes to town if you speed. Road is safe to do 80 on most of the way, both cops wise and actual saftey, just watch out for road bikers.

    Thanks Ate'em!!!
That is the kind of info I was looking for. Looking forward to some biking, drinking and listening to some good music. Yes in that order I think.

You are a moron! 80 mph is in no way safe on that road.

It's an easy 20-25 minute drive from Ashcroft to town.
