    K2 Backpacks

Has anyone used one of K2's backpacks? They have a 11 & 15 liter pack I can't decide between for resort & side country. Thanks!

Just delete the other thread. Not too difficult to do.

Regarding the backpacks, go check out Mystery Ranch packs. They have three packs that would suit your needs, same basic design in various volumes. Personally, I want a pack that's going to carry really well so I can ski without noticing it. You won't be disappointed in MR.

I use a 16ltr pack for slackcountry and I wouldn't go any smaller. The volume also works well for cat/heli days. I nave also used my 16ltr on day tours before, it's not ideal but still 'do-able', I found myself filling every pocket.

Why on earth would you get a K2 backpack when there are so many other already proven designs?
Do you just need some steeze and don't care about the probably pos factor?
Maybe they're fine, but whatever, fuck em.
    No longer stuck.

    Only buy one pack.

Or sell the second one in gear swap?

Thanks everyone! I've decided on a 15(ish) liter but not on a brand yet. I'll check out your suggestions. The only thing I liked about the K2 is the external lashing & compression options since most packs this size look like the pack I carried my school books in. Oh, I've tried to delete my second post but I can't delete it from my phone.

Don't take my word for it. Read reviews, etc. But I've never met an MR user who was unhappy with their pack. Personally, I'd size up to the 20L Saddle Peak (or even the 24L Fuze) because those packs compress down so well.

The MR blackjack looks plushhh. Price tag is also plush though. MR packs are nice.

You might also check BCA packs. Looks like the squall would fit the bill for you. I need a bigger pack but have been very impressed with the durability and function of my stash BC over several years.

Would probably not recommend K2 but who knows. Probably cheaper.

I have a 40L Stash pack that I love but I don't like the smaller BCA packs. I'm not hearing great things about the K2 but I'm hoping to find something I like that's versatile for under $100. I'll be in the Rockies next month so maybe I can find some good options I can actually see and try since we don't have any good shops here in the Midwest.

x2 on Mystery Ranch. They are worth the $$. They carry well, have great compression straps, and are bombproof. In the time that I have owned mine, my girlfriend has had two packs fall apart on her. I am buying her a MR this fall.

Thanks everyone! I ended up with the Dakine 11L. I didn't want a Dakine because everyone has them but it fit well and does everything I want...and REI had it on sale for $39.
