Thread: TR: A year of skiing 11/12 in BC | Scandinavia Mags?

I've always had a goal to ski at least once a month consecutively for 12 months... I don't really know why... Or why it had to be a year's worth... but it did.

A mix of injuries and travels since as far as I can remember has made it impossible... until now.
After travelling in europe for 3 months last year, I arrived home in August to find the snowpack still going strong. I figured this would be the start of my 12 months.

Since then, much has happened... but most importantly; I won't be returning to Whistler-Blackcomb like I have every season for a long as I can remember. Instead, I'm off to Sweden.

So to all the mags I've met in Whistler, and in the city over the years, thanks for all the wicked days on the mountains... too many to count.

... and to any mags in Scandinavia... I'll be looking for new partners come next season... if anyone's interested in dragging a Canadian gaper around.

As for the photos, there were too many to choose from, so I simply chose 1 per month. Maybe not the best representation of the day/month, but a picture that I felt was worth sharing.

Awesome! Where about in Scandiland? I've got a few contacts kicking around those parts.

do go to Are and mountain bike in summer it is best on earth i think
swedes steal twice as much as canadians and 2.5 times less than germans english etc. they are lowest theft country in europe slovenia excused that is totalitarian
oh I may go to Are have a double room to share or maybe a miniapartment or go with some friends with a caravan then we may have a space but really rather in summers as far as the planning goes to bike

I'll be going to Malmö first... that might just be temporary though. The idea is, hop on the train, jump over the bridge, then fly out of Copenhagen to somewhere in the alps. Skis and road bike will be coming with to Sverige... but mountain bikes won't be...

Also going to make an effort to train north a few times at least during the season.

Mountains aren't too close to Malmö... I imagine there'll be no lack of road biking around there though.

Personally wont be skiing around scandiland much during the mid winter, will head to the alps or somewhere else. But when the spring comes, will do quite a few trips to the northern
sweden (rikgsgränsen) and narvik/lyngen area. And the obviously the mandatory june fiesta in stryn!
There is a lot of scandis around here so give them a shout as well, you´ll def find skiing partners. If you have a car, you´ll drive to norweigian mountains in 8 hours or so.
But, with 2-3 hours more, you´ll be in the alps..

I have a good friend with a place in Dovre... not too far from Stryn. I'll definitely be around that area.
