2012/13 DPS pre-order, special editions, wallet draining

A "limited edition" ski - 193 112rp Charger Edition - was revealed in an email from Bent Gate today: http://www.bentgate.com/dpspromo.html

For those who don't click: The Limited Edition ski offering will be the 2013 model year 193cm Wailer 112 Charger Edition. This ski will feature a larger radius, longer running length and stiffer, lower rise tail compared to the 190cm Wailer 112.

Special edition colors for the 112 and 99 as well, as pictured at the link. Glad I got last year's 112 SE .

Agreed on all counts. I'd bet the tail looks like the 99.

the tail profile and stiffness are similar to wailer 99, though a little higher rise. The RPC is stiffer and lower than the 190 w112rp however.

the RPC has a lower tip and longer effective edge compared to 190 wailer 112 as well.

RPC is 20-24m progressive radius (190RP is 15-18m progressive)

    142-115-127 192cm only for 2012/13

I was thinking of a ski like that last year, skiing on my 112's and demoing the 99's and 120's. What would a ski be like that took some attributes of all three? I think it would be something like the Charger edition of the 112. Nice going DPS! Not that I have any real complaints with my 112's which I have really enjoyed.

very astute, yes indeed. The RPC contrasts the ride of the 112RP, but blends a few skis attributes together.

The 112RP is for the skier that likes high edge angles and pulling g-forces across the fall line, and puts an emphasis on versatility all-mountain and carving fun coupled with surfy powder fun-times... where the RPC is for a skier that prefers to ski DOWN the fall line, with bases more flat, and puts a performance emphasis on cut and setup snow.

The Lotus 120 is more of a soft snow thorough bred. it sacrifices carving versatility for effortless turn shape initiation and float in virgin snow thru its flat non-rockered but tapered tail.

Hey scotsman, I put sollyfit plates on my wife's Yvettes and that has worked out extremely well for her. The color of the plate is even the color of the lion logo on the ski.

Oh, BTW, I've already told a friend to buy the RP Charger, so I can trade him my 112RPs.

I got a DPS catalog in the mail yesterday...... kinda spoiled it for me.....I always considered DPS an exclusive internet only brand that only core, " in the know" ski officiados knew about..made me feel special in so many ways.

    Now...mass mailed catalogs WTF?

On the line. My wife weighs 115, not aggressive, but a very good, (likes La Grave, Jackson), skier. I remember the non Stephen Drake partner at DPS worked for Volant, and those had the line +1 already. Anyway, all 3 of our DPS are on the line, and we like that.

Thanks.. I've got my 112rps on the line but moved my W105's to +1 after skiing them a while. I had my L120's on the line also. Good to know.

Anymore to add about the RPC? Pretty exciting by the dims, but would be good to get some more info prior to dropping the cash on a snow coloured ski.

fyi the ski is medium grey. click to make bigger against a white background.

the point of the ski is to offer a similar overall feel as the wailer 112RP, but for a skier that puts more empahisis on blasting thru crud at speed than on carving performance with high edge angle. that feeling is achieved thru a longer radius (20-23m vs. 15-18m on the RP), lower rocker profile, etc. but the point was to keep the loose surfy powder performance, and the directional fun-times. so less g-forces rounding turns on firm snow compared to the RP, but less hooky in pow and crud at very high speed.

there is a product video launching on monday as well, that will have more info as well, so stay tuned for that.

The C model has fixed all the bits that put me off the RP112. When can I see the camber/rocker profile?
