Who is ERIC HAAS
At 41:15 into Highwater (2009) be introduced to the most epic character in surfing that you've never heard of.
Walter Eric Haas, described as a true waterman, and "the greatest unsung big-wave rider in the world" has been spotted surfing Waimea in a football uniform and been stuck in a trash chute trying to evade police in Waikiki.
If you can't access the film on Netflix Instant, get a flavor for this fascinating Hawaiian original from these clips (not from the film) below. And can anyone speak pidgin mo bettah than Uncle Eric?

Wow. Definitely a character.
"Have you ever seen a monk get wildly fucked by a bunch of teenage girls?" "No" "Then forget the monastery."
"You ever hear of a little show called branded? Arthur Digby Sellers wrote 156 episodes. Not exactly a lightweight." Walter Sobcheck.
"I didn't have a grandfather on the board of some fancy college. Key word being was. Did he touch the Filipino exchange student? Did he not touch the Filipino exchange student? I don't know Brooke, I wasn't there."

Was able to catch Highwater on netflix before they pulled it. Loved it, better than Step Into Liquid.
