New rod spam
New Helios 2 rod series that is coming in November. Lots of personal work has gone into this one and it has been a blast.

Unfortunately (yah right) I'll be tarpon fishing during OR. I will be in Reno though. I'll be at OR for sure next year, we should take skifishbum up on a float or at least grab a beer.

What changed on this rod vs the first Helios? Drum up some excitement!

Supposed to be something like 20% lighter and 30% stronger, can't remember the exact percentages. It feels stupid light in the hand.
I suggested "2" as the name for it to mess with Sage, glad it was incorporated
Although if it turns out to be a POS then at least it's aptly named!

At what point do we hit too light? There needs to be some weight there for it to balance right. I guess maybe a rod like this will push people to make lighter reels.

I don't want to give away too much but across the series the rods have ~ 20% lighter swing weight, they are ~ 20% stronger, the tip sections are 100% more impact resistant, they are around the same weight on the scale compared to helios, they have more backbone and at the same time have a smoother casting stroke (I know that's hard to believe, just wait until you cast one) Oh and they track very well. As one field tester put it, "the damn thing is like casting with a laser pointer"
more to come, stand by...Last edited by L8APX; 07-21-2012 at 04:40 AM.
