It may be because I have a fat ass but I can only stand up for so long, especially in a longer rock garden like the fronside of Hall. My wrists feel like they could brake off after a certain point.
Is it just about getting stronger? Maybe I should get out moar than once a week...The best things in life aren't things.

They sit for like 10 seconds at a time maybe. You guys are so retarded sometimes with taking everything to the literal.
Tubeless advice is for OP not DH racers. Tubeless is a good thing.

haha, so now it's cool to ride downhill with your seat 15" high?
We are talking about XC riders who don't lower their seats when descending a 3K vert trail. You arguing that is ideal?

.
I know what you're saying, it's just that 'below full climbing height on an xc bike' seems kind of obvious. I might have been reading your statement as 'slam your seat' and that's not what you meant. I and everyone else I ride with keeps their seat high enough to still be efficient while pedaling seated. It's no xc height but it's not dirtjumper height either. It provides a good lever to lean your bike with your legs too.STRAVA: Enabling dorks everywhere to get trails shut down........ all for the sake of a race on the internet.

Karl taught arty, and arty taught me the trick about pushing or levering on the seat with the inside of your thigh. I use that all the time now. (i am guessing you taught Karl???
)
and yeah, i sit down occasionally to pedal. sometimes it is more efficient than standing and mashing on pedals.
but in general, a new DH'er should be up out of the seat, in a postion to be able to shift and move body weight quickly."A man on foot, on horseback or on a bicycle will see more, feel more, enjoy more in one mile than the motorized tourists can in a hundred miles."

The Shore is horrible for everyone thinking they need to slam their seat below dirtjumper level to ride.

More like...Karl and Woo took me to Moab, shook their heads at me for sucking, and then taught me how to to not suck as much.
And yes, as I've gotten better, my seat has gotten noticably higher (from slammed all the way down). I'm also a fan of the WTB DH seat on the big bike. It's longer, so it's easier to toss around in your thighs. And yes, I think I just made myself throw up."I knew in an instant that the three dollars I had spent on wine would not go to waste."

When I said something about letting the bike dance beneath you I was talking about something like what you can see here:

On the seat height thing: hells yes. My overall descending improved quite a bit when I figured out things worked my better only having the seat down a little vs. slammed.
I like it down and out of the way on the slow speed and trialsy stuff, but for the faster stuff, only about 3" lower than pedaling height now.Florence Nightingale's Stormtrooper

Yes. Saw a course walk with Aaron Gwin (this year, Mont St. Anne, maybe) and he pretty much said this. He was describing how he does a super steep rock garden/root section. He responded something like, "I don't really think about it. I just go fast." Word Mr. Gwinsanity.
