What Risks Do You Run Drilling A Ski More Than 3x?

Just as the title says, whats going to happen? I know most shops won't drill a ski a fourth time. Is there a risk of the ski breaking in half?

I have some Iggys that I want to mount up that have been drilled about 5 times. I also don't want to receive metal, wood, and plastic shards into my ass.

You surely run the risk of recieving metal, wood, and plastic shards into your ass. Especially skiing in CB.

That said, why not? Iggies with metal? Most holes >1cm apart? Give er.
    Drive slow, homie.

Also entirely aware that no one asked for my $0.02...

At least you're aware. I thought we all left our feelings at the door?

Wasnt aware that my "title" prohibited me from making fun of a disease, especially when the intention of the joke is a TGR meme, and a kickback to the early eighties, when one could get hiv from touching a homosexual. In any case, I forgot to specify "full blown" such.
(If any offense was taken by anyone here actually living with HIV,i sincerely apologise, but only to those in question. Sensitivistas go home)

To the op,while you might not actually get full blown AIDS,youre probably all right with another mount with reusal of holes and necessary precaution with spacing of the new holes. ;-)

Your sister...your brother...your father...your mother...everyone has AIDS, AIDS, AIDS, AIDS.

Back to the original question-you risk certain death.

theoretically, you could set into motion a cascade of events culminating in your affliction with AIDS by drilling a ski more than 3x. I'd put the odds slightly behind getting it from Magic whilst playing a rousing game of HORSE...

I certainly don't want AIDS. Guess I'll have to throw them out. It's a shame, they'd make great early season mogul wreckers.

I drilled my Faction 13s 4.5 times, no issues with them. Other than that they, due to mounting point, ride like shit, they are perfectly fine. I´d venture a guess and say that Iggies are more durable than Factions. Mogul them.

JFost posts an interesting notion, though. Nursing science is already shit and hasn´t developed in almost 20 years, maybe I could get some funding for a risk analysis study. "Prevalence of AIDS amongst skiers skiing skis with more than three mounts, a quantitative study"

Pro-ho's will be all like: OMG, look how many holes he has in his skis!!!! Let's bang!!!!!

Next thing you know: full blown AIDS.

consider yourself warned: more than 3 set of holes = AIDS.

Pro-Ho's will indeed dig the amount of holes in your ski. They'll see that you just ooze that broke ski bum vibe and want to jump on your junk in the gondi.

HIV might be more of the case with the 5 hole set mark, but up to then you can't really be full-blown.

Honestly though, that's just a ski shop thing so they aren't liable if your ski breaks. As long as you do a good job plugging up old holes, and drilling new far enough away from old holes, you can have a shit ton of holes in your skis. It won't really matter. Course, the down side is not having room to drill more unless you are mounted so far forward or back that you look, and will ski like, a complete douche.

and thus you have answered your own question. You risk a real ass-sharding, and of course AIDS

I long for a return to the 70's when mounting holes were drilled with a brace and bit and when people talked about Aids, it was a diet candy
