Thread: I got a new boat!

Pretty stoked on my new rig. 'Rowed boats from just about every thing out there at some point and was really intrigued by this one. The owner, Mike Batcke, has his shit together and dialed, (naval engineer and fishing guide who has floated al over).

When the boat was delivered, it was way more than expected. The craftsmanship is awesome! If you're in the market, look at these guys, www.stealthcraftboats.com


PERFORMANCE:

Model: 16ft Superfly (Double front box- great for family, scenic or booze cruz floats) Color: Cloth Navy - sexy as hell!

Oars: 9ft Sawyers - Dynalite square tops

Width @ oar locks: 80" - Wider than most = lots of stability.

Transom: Don't have an exact measurement but it's wide. creates ever greater stability. Almost overkill, IMO but haven't had any issues yet.

Profile/rocker: Btwn a standard low profile and highsided boat. No issues with more wt in front though!


1st of all, I wish I had some 9.5's for this thing! 9's are good but....

I'm used to a lower profile but this boat handles about as well in the wind as a Clack LP or Freestone. It tracks and pivots very well. The oarsmen seat is higher than most driftboats, which is a plus! However, this is another reason to have 9.5's or 10's for sticks. Rowing would be more efficient with longer sticks.

This boat handled high water, (granted it's not a banner year on the Snake), with relative ease. Class III runs like a dream. Bigger water could be done if you have bigger balls than I do.

Overall layout is top of the line! I'd get a single front box if I didn't have a family but the big one is acceptable for one angler in front if you remove a seat.

I have a few guide days on this thing as well as a couple family floats. The space and design make this an ideal boat for pretty much all applications.

Edit: I forgot: I got 2 sets of LED lights on the front for those late nights in the Green when you're pulling in past dark! Got a 12v adapter plug, (cell phones, sterer -if that's your thing), up front. Both are powered with a small, plug in battery in the back, dry storage area.

I believe you'll really like the Stealthcraft. I've never rowed one, but I've floated in a few and they're a great fishing platform. They're showing up more and more around the rivers downstate where I fish. Plus I've heard great things about their customer service. Sweet ride!!

The cust service is excellent! Mike Batcke, the owner, is quick to respond and seems very happy to help out and work on any issue that could arise.

congrats Schwerty! looks like a great boat. out of curiosity, did you consider an adipose when you were looking and how did it stack up? some guys i know rave about those too.

Holy crap, LED's, double beer holders for the rower... It looks sweet!! How's the side pull anchor work out? The color is the bomb - I like the diamond plate and reinforced oar locks as well.

Damn that thing is sexy! Congrats.

Nice! Can't wait to try those oars once the wrist is healed up...

I've been in Adipose boats and dig em. They seem like a good crew. Very well made boats but they are only building skiff style boats. I prefer a shape with some rocker. If I was rowing the NP outside of Casper or the MO, it'd be a different story. Certainly nothing wrong with their products. They rock. Just not for my uses.

It has diamond plate on the transom too. I should mention the transom is built so there is no need for a motor mount...you can attach it right to the boat.

I'm still getting used to the side anchor pull system. The guy at Stealthcraft said they do the more common, floor anchor too but assured me I'd love this style.

Easier to work but the line does get in the way a bit. Not a huge deal. I have bashed my knee on he damn thing a couple times. That sucks! Another few days and I think I will be converted to this anchor layout despite that.

CONGRATS schwerty! Can't wait to see this thing in person. Looks like I am no-go for an August summit - guess it means we'll just have to meet up some streamer fishin' in October!

Sweet boat. You giving free rowing lessons in that thing? I can't promise I won't pin it against some rock, but I will bring beer. My wife has some crazy idea I should learn to row before buying a boat... Chicks man. . On a serious note that thing looks like fishing from a Caddie, very nice.

You should get on the water before you buy a river boat of any sort! 'Always happy to have maggots on my boat. Especially, if someone else is along that can row.

Looks like a nice rig, all the right options in all the right places. Makes my mid 80's rig look primitive

You need at least two more seats to make it a good kenai boat... Just sayin... (I'm jealous)

Sweet rig! How do you like having the anchor rope go through a pulley at the anchor? I've seen this on a few boats and always wondered about the potential advantages and disadvantages.

Stealthcraft boats are solid. Lots of lengths and styles....pretty much something for everyone. I'm super happy with mine.
