Rock Shox Lyric issues, advice for quick fix in Denver area
First and foremost MANY MANY thanks to mag benfjord for the hook up on this bike! Transition Preston FR, even with the issue it railed South St Vrain yesterday...
Now I bought the bike knowing the fork (2008 RS Lyric) had issues which are;
1. rebound damping gone, (classic ping on rebound)
2. no compression adjust (it just spins),
3. only using 50% of travel with end of travel being hard hitting and not dampend
4. U-Turn works fine
Anyone with experience please answer me this,
Is this just a rebound/compression cartridge issue? Or, does it involve the U-Turn side as well?
Replacing cartage myself easy, medium, difficult?
Best shop in Denver to have a quick turn-around... only 3 more weeks in the Denver area!!!!
Better yet anyone randomly having spare lyric parts to refresh this puppy??
Many thanks in advance for the beta and advice. I have worked on the old simple Marzocci bombers but nothing with travel adjust and the like.

Have you changed the fluid? If not, change out everything in there, upper and lower. This may solve the 50% travel issue from hydrolock or too much fluid in the damper side uppers. Damper and spring sides are independent.
Changing the fluid is cheap and easy, get the fluid at a moto shop and get the service manual from srams site. This may fix your problems. If not, new rebound or compression dampers may be your next step.
Sweet fork though, my solo air has treated me well.

^^^not exactly right^^^
you need a new rebound damper seal, for sure, 100%.
what is happening is the fork oil has partially drained out of the semi-bath, thru the bad seal, and into the lower. the excess fork oil in the lower is causing the hydrolock
all you need is to stick a new seal (or just replace the rebound damper), fill with fresh oil, and go.
i would strongly suggest calling philip at salvagetti, anyone at golden bike shop, or mike/sheldon at green mountain sports.
cheers.

Bump for marshal being SPOT ON sight unseen! Thank you!
Also a quick plug for the guys at salvagetti; open late on saturday night + had everything I needed to service the fork myself, she's back and ready to rip.
