Mount Shasta TR and overall review

So looks like I will be getting out of the Shasta area in the next few days so here are some photos I took from my lil adventure out here. I guess its just pictures from a jump sesh and one or 2 of skiing, but my camera is broken so did what i could. Ive already exhausted the use of POV, but Ill add the last edit in here as well.

As far as the area itself, pretty sweet! There are definitely a large percentage of weirdos roaming around and hiding in the bush around trails and campsites, but not enough to steer one away. Scenery is topnotch, and I saw a bunch of wildlife. Wish I had more money to explore the area, check out the rivers and cliff jumping options, get lost in the Eddys, make a trip to Lassen, but I literally didnt have enough gas to leave town. The town has everything you need, including free delicious springwater at all the parks, but meals get a little pricey and the grocery store was the best option. You can literally ride your bike everywhere as well. Typical badasss mtn town with plenty to do when not skiing or biking; good bouldering, nice lakes and parks, disc golf and so on.

The biking community is pretty sweet and in the process of blowing up I think. Wheels are turning and if they get the bikepark up and running to the point theyre talking about, it will be a legit destination that probably wont get so overlooked. Everyone I met was super cool and accommadating, shuttling was not a problem and hanging out, drinking beers, and couch sleeping with the occasional shower was easy to come by. If you need a bike shop there are plenty, but the guys at Shasta Base Camp were by far the best to me, I reccommend them highly. The trail conditions are a lil less then ideal, everything is drier and duffier then Tahoe and berms and jumps get rather blown out, and its only June. Luckily the bikepark is talking irrigation, which would be a neccessary tool.

Anyways, I will be riding here alot in the future and recommend you do too, its right on the way for anyone travelling the 5 to Whistler, there are lots of cool riders and they want to show you a good time.

This write up is long winded, but when I was trying to research the area, something like this is what I was looking for so hopefully it can help someone at some point in time.

    Fresh trail gorgeousness

    Berm-tastic

    Train

Trying to learn how to table

This kid just started hitting jumps the other day!

    Tables are hard

    Berms are fun

Berms are tits when there is any moisture

    Exploding out

    Wait, did I say moisture

    Fern-Gully

    Camera angles

Wherever you ride, please do this

    Steezy

    Gettin low

    Pushing against gravity for once

    Trains are fun

    Choo Choo

    Air-guitar on ski? CHECK

Skiing took a backseat to biking in a big way, maybe because this isnt the best place to break in some new boots

Killer TR and pics, thanks for posting. I've always thought Shasta City is an awesome little CA mtn town with a chill vibe and the views of the peak are insane. I rode up there once like 10yrs ago, and it's the kind of place that you just know has a bunch of good shit hiding under the covers but as always, without a local guide you would never find it. Sleeper town for sure that is bound to blow up at some point. It has all the raw materials: big mountain/vertical, world-class rivers/fishing, chill vibe....it just needs to be polished up. If I knew of a few more rides I would put this on the hit list for a 3-day fish/ride excursion.
