Here's the thing 720p doesn't mean jack shit. A $50 camera can shoot 720p and so can a $50K camera. Do you think they will have the same output? It's about sensors, codec, bandwidth, lens optics, etc. These things cost as much as some goggles and you think the camera they crammed inside is going to be any good?
And what is "up to" 30fps mean? Does that mean 29.97, 25, 24, etc? OR does that mean you are shooting 30 and only 30?
And they have been out for at least a year and a half and the company hasn't put any video examples up of the footage yet? Hmm wonder why.
But hell, if you're going to spend a bunch of dough on goggles anyway I guess it couldn't hurt to spend a little more and see if these things actually work. I think in reality you are going to get a very mediocre pov camera and an extremely mediocre set of goggles.

I'm really questioning either my ability to read sarcasm or your skiing abilities (cuz really? $9-$20 replacement lenses prolly have shit optics and fogging properties.)
Contour w/goggle-strap mount. Better in a crash (IME) and slightly less GSA looking (though he has one of those too, so you're not quite in the clear there). Plus, then you can take the camera off when you're not doing helicopters and daffies."Alpine rock and steep, deep powder are what I seek, and I will always find solace there." - Bean Bowers

I ski blind faster than you ski with perfect fancy vision.
I ski in the blower snow on storm days in fog and clouds, cant see shit no matter what you have on your face.
My goggles are in the 50 dollar range. These things sell new for 255.
For that price you would expect go pro optics and decent goggles.
My goggles never fog up.
Guy says the $20 replacements are dual lens and polarized.
Replacement bolle lenses are $25

No, they don't. These things are new to the market. This is their brand new device. It is $120 almost everywhere. This is a marketing thing. "Ohh look, these were MSRP for $255 but you can save 60%." In reality it means "Hey, we over valued these but to make them look valueable we have to stick this big percentage off next to them."
So even if they were $255 you would expect gopro optics $299 and "decent goggles" $50. So you think these things that sell for $120, claim to be worth $255 are really comparable to $349? Are you on fucking crack?
GoPro is 170º FOV. It can record 3 different resolutions at 3 different fps. It shoots 11MP, 8MP and 5MP at it's lowest setting. These goggles shoot 5MP at its best (and only) setting. The goggles sensor is 1/3.2" CMOS while the GoPros are 1/2.3" CMOS (in case this is over your head).
Seriously, you asked a question and I answered you. This is not a gopro in a goggle.
But keep on with the you ski so much better and faster. Maybe you do, but you don't know shit about camera technology.
EDIT - and you also mentioned how stupid people looked in the lift line with GoPros on. I would laugh even harder if I saw someone wearing these pieces of shit. Seriously, those things are fucking gay.

The woot writers seem familiar with how to make internet POV videos:
Congratulations!
You're well on your way to creating the most boring movie in history!
Movies today lack that authentic, hyper-realistic feel. But you can change all that! With these sweet HD Video Sunglasses you'll be well on your way to long, unedited, first-person perspective shots of your walk to work or your bike ride through the park or even yourself eating dinner!
Sure, more motivated folks could wear them while hunting or hiking or just being active in general, but EVERY movie today has action. No, we're betting the next big thing will be capturing the true, crushing ennui of everyday life as if through your very own eyes. People will be enamored with your ability to open their eyes to the cold realities of the world by letting them see through your own.
What will it look like to watch a man eat spaghetti as if you were that very man? Would you dare visit the beach in someone else's body? Imagine the thrill of getting a haircut that ISN'T your own hair! You'll watch those movies, probably on YouTube and set to that horrible "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" song, and your mind will expand and your heart will open and the true collective consciousness humanity shares will be revealed to you for the first time.
We're all just one universe experiencing itself. And taping itself getting haircuts.

Did you even read the video description? Those are different than the goggles he posted. The POS he wanted were the 5MP 720p30. The ones from the video are a 12MP 1080p30 (1440x1080 ie rectangular pixels) that cost the same as a GoPro. And no, the footage didn't impress me anyway. Without seeing the raw I can't tell how it really performs but that looked like shit.
What I said WAS true and it made perfect sense. Quit trying to come here and show you're smart douchehole.
