    Longmire

    Anyone watching this new series?

I saw it advertised during the Hatfield McCoy mini series. Gave it a shot.

    Pretty fun summer timewaster.
She's not too tough to look at either. Looks a lot better than she did on Battlestar Galactica.

I watched about 10 minutes of it last night and the lead actor seemed really wooden and the script/dialogue seemed pretty static. Didn't hold my attention in the least.

Seems like they're jumping on the Justified bandwagon...

It ain't winning any awards. It is a typical cop show, just set in bumfuck Wyoming. The guy is wooden because that is his schtick, and he lost his wife recently, recovering heavy drinker, etc. etc.

I am not familiar with Justified.

Get familiar; the second season was superb. You'll feel no regrets.

I've watched a few episodes. It's ok. It's not just that the lead is wooden, but everything is very dreary and almost depressing.

Justified is a much better show. Or the Glades.

The Glades is my summertime Netflix addiction.
Wife is hooked on Friday Night Lights. I catch every 3 episodes, and feel like I didn't miss a thing.

Apparently it is based on a series of novels, though I had never heard of the author or books prior to Googling the series a few minutes ago:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longmire_(TV_series)

Seems the author has been cranking out Longmire tales since 2004: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Johnson_(author)

In comparison, Justified is based on a character that Elmore Leonnard first introduced in 1993...again, the only similarities that I'm drawing between the two series is that they are both centered around lawmen who embody elements of the Old West and I'd be hard-pressed if A&E didn't pick up Longmire to cash in on the popularity of Justified (one could easily argue that The Glades was in response to the one time popularity of CSI: Miami, as well).
