Check this beast out- boat related
My wife's cousin (my 2nd cousin? Cousin in law?) took a ride on this thing from Tampa to Key West.
This is Lou Piniella's new toy. Wife's cousin is friends with his son.
They did the run in just under 10 hours, with a lot of fishing in between.
He said they could probably do it in about 5 1/2 hours.
Cruise at 40, WOT is 75-80

And I don't know what you would call it. I assume cousin in law. A 2nd cousin is your cousins child.

SICK! I am a salt jong, what are those black fiberglass rods used for? Trolling?

Those are outriggers. You put two lines on, and if a fish hits, the line pops off. Lets you run 4 or 5 lines at once while trolling. You can see the handles below the t top that are used to crank them out perpendicular to the boat.

Not sure I'd want to be behind the wheel of the second station when the radar is transmitting.
Sick Boat for sure. We don't see many of the huge CC's up here. I've seen a couple of yellowfins and one big venture.

I didn't even notice that second station up top. You must stand on the console? Odd.
In "the rich keep getting richer" news, he found a sponsor, supposedly. Tommy Bahama is sponsoring the boat in Kingfish tourneys. The boat name is Squeeze Play- here is the T-shirt.
I haven't verified this info, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Derek's last boat was the "Cuban Mule". 35 ft Contender. I don't think Tommy Bahama would sponsor that name.

I think he went with trip 300's. Those V-8 350's get like .6 MPG.
TNKen- it has a 400+ gallon tank. At $4.65 a gallon, you are approaching $2,000 per fill.
So, the run to Key West would run you through approx. 140 gallons each way.
$1300 trip, give or take, just to get there.
The way my Cuz in Law described the panties dropping to the dock as they pulled in, might make it worth the money.

True. Was at a station in Jacksonville a few years ago. Guy who owns C&H Lures was there fueling up. Said he didn't feel like he had gone fishing unless he put $1,000 of gas in the boat. I think he had a Donzi at the time. And that was when gas was under $3 a gallon.
Looks like my jet is pretty easy on gas. Best guess is around 8 gallons per hour at 3,600 rpm.In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

its crazy what it costs those big boat to fill up.
I canyon fish on 31 edgewater with twin 250 yammi's and I think we usually burn around $700 per trip. Its not bad split between 4 of us, but I think they crew will grow to 5 to help with the increase in gas. Average is around 4.30 a gallon up here.
The bigger boats with diesels just use a fuel truck that pulls right up the bulkhead to avoid the docks.
That being said, headed to Stellwagon on Saturday and South of the Islands on Sunday, hopefully I catch something...

If you calculate the cost per pound of edible catch on most recreational boats, it's damned expensive meat!!!In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).
