So....Obama, who has deported more illegal immigrants than any Republican ever has, mostly those considered undesirables to begin with, has opened the door for the young immigrants who are doing good things with their lives.

I have zero problem allowing an illegal immigrant who volunteered to serve in our military to become a citizen. In fact I think they should automatically become a citizen the day they are honorably discharged.

I have no idea why the Republicans are against this. Racisim I guess.

Immigrants regardless of legal standing are an hyper important to our system of economics, removal of them via force or policy only makes the economy worse. The H1B1 peeps keep our high level PHD type work in country essentially because we are too dumb to fill all the spots our economy demands. Low level grass cutters and shit are even better because they are worst a break even in terms of money into the state and money out but are a very large portion of people who contribute billions in base level real economic consumption spending.

They used to look the other way and apparently had somewhat of a instituted policy with a vehicle for citizenship, Guatemala had newspapers with entire sections devoted to "our boys serving in America".

That practice has largely disappeared, I mean I'm sure there are a couple of illegals but as the army has gone professional and downsized that shit just doesn't work anymore. Politics not reality will determine the illegals debate.
