It's funny 'cause I know Tool are heavily influenced by Rush and now it's like Rush are being influenced by Tool. I'm not saying this is a bad thing at all.
Even though Rush were pretty hit and miss for a long time, they are always unbelievable live. I still can't figure out where they hide the 3 other musicians. Maybe they're under the stage or something.

Just listened through the album twice and am pretty underwhelmed. Better than Snakes and Arrows, but I liked Vapor Trails better.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

I think the reason I like Vapor Trails so much was because most of the time I was listening to it was while I was riding my bike and that entire album is the perfect cadence pacemaker. Plus it was the first album they made after Peart lost his wife and daughter, so it was really good to see them back together.
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.

This record is a bit heavy for me but they are super tight. Haven't heard them compose shit this good since the early 90's.
Great to hear they are still rockin hard at their shows. I have only caught a few after the Roll the Bones tour. Too much cheesing out for me. This record seems to have sparked their roots more than their efforts over the last 15-18yrs.

Honestly I find it too lyrics-heavy. There are many moments when I wish Geddy would STFU and they would just crank. Probably better live when they can do just that.

They played Tom Saywer and best of 2112 for the encore.
One of the kewl things you see at a Rush show is parents bringing their kids with them. Saw some pretty young kids with Dads. You are the mission Bob.

Ok, listened to it three times in a row up camping last weekend (Rush freak friend insisted). I like the first half, but then I start to get tired of the lyrics towards the end. Some really good stuff on it and they are really tight, but not a home run of a record. Still going to see them in November though.
And Neil needs to stop with the cheesy metaphors. It seems like every other lyric is: "Like a bla bla, in a bla bla bla."

Nope. The songs I don't care for for the same reasons still were a little wordy live. Like some of the new stuff though.
Set list for the show:
Subdivisions
The Big Money
Force Ten
Grand Designs
The Body Electric
Territories
The Analog Kid
Bravado
Where's My Thing?
Far Cry
Set Two with Clockwork Angels String Ensemble (I thought some songs the strings added to, some not so much)
Caravan
Clockwork Angels
The Anarchist
Carnies
The Wreckers
Headlong Flight
Halo Effect
Seven Cities of Gold
The Garden
Manhattan Project
Drum Solo
Red Sector A
YYZ
The Spirit of Radio
(without strings)
Encore:
Tom Sawyer
2112 Part I: Overture
2112 Part II: The Temples of Syrinx
2112 Part VII: Grand Finale

Soooo ... Good show?

Yes, pretty good show overall. Geddy was a little off with timing of his lyrics at times and he (self-admittedly) can't really hit the highs anymore. The light show was off the hook. And one good addition was a giant screen on which they showed individual band members playing. That was nice as were weren't super close. So good show, but I've seen better Rush shows.
Not a fan of the arena venue though. They usually come through in summer and play amphitheaters. I enjoy that more.
