Help with pricing my road bike

After picking up an internally geared commuter that I feel comfortable locking, my road bike doesn't get much use and I'm thinking of selling and putting the funds toward a nice XC/all-mountain bike. But I have no idea what to ask and wanted some help.

    The highlights:

Brodie Rodie scandium 53 cm frame (I think from about 2004)
    Carbon fork
    Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels
Full Ultegra grouppo (I think from about 2001)
Thomson Elite seatpost and oversize stem
    Speedplay pedals
    Vittoria Rubino rear tire
    Continental GP front tire

Here's a pic, through the bar, stem and rear tire are different than shown.

What should I ask? I was thinking something like $600 - $700. Sounds about right or too high or low? Would I get more if I parted out?

If the mechanics are all immaculate (newer cassette, chain, cables, etc) I think asking $700, expecting to get closer to 550, is reasonable. if things are clearly worn, or shifting/braking is subpar, then that number can drop quickly. Fully tuned is important.

For a bike like yours, buyers are generally going to have a level of knowledge that is just enough to get them in trouble. They will tend to focus on an element or two, and if those aren't up to snuff, it will hurt the value of the bike.

Parting out might get you slightly more in the long run, but man would I rather just sell as a whole unit and be done with it. Your tolerance for asinine buyers may be higher.
