Deschutes Salmonfly hatch 2012
This one is a doozy of a mass of biomass over the river, every year mid-May to early-June.
Headed out with the winter steelhead gang to float Warm Springs to Trout Creek. Overcast first day, very windy day #2, and beautiful on Sunday. We got the best action outside of Warm Springs, mostly on the XXXXXXXX bank, with aggressive rises and fish in the 16-18" size that wore out the cork hand with their runs and had you double-handing the graphite to wear them down. It was obvious we weren't going to have the 20-30 day fish that good days during this hatch can produce, but we weren't hurting either.
The name of the game...both games.

Great action on Clark's Stones, Norm Woods, True Goldens and Chubbies

Strong stick of the trip went to the guy running a 2 fly set-up, True Stone up top and a nasty custom mega-stone prince kinda thing swung steelhead style through the buckets

Sparrows were insane. We'd watch caddis drift up from a stand of grass as the sparrows would nail them mid-flight.

Yellow stones, little yellow sallie drapers, caddis, mayflies...all on the menu.
