Canon 70-210 F4 (the old push-pull one) - anyone using it?
Is anyone here using the old Canon 70-210 F4? Based on what I've read, it sounds like this compares well to the 70-200 F4L but costs 1/5 the price. I'm wondering what the thoughts are on it. Is it worth $100 if I already have a 75-300 to use, or should I save my money?

I have one. For the money, I think it's a great constant aperture zoom. The focus is not as fast as Canon's USM lenses, so my burst speed goes down when I'm shooting a moving object in AF Servo, but that's my only complaint.

I was recently given one by a friend cleaning out his parent's house. I am very impressed by it in general, and especially so given the price. I did a few comparison shots between it and my 80-200L f/2.8, both shot at f/4 and it was great. The colors weren't quite as rich OOC and it has a little more light falloff in the corners (shooting on FF) but it resolved very well wide open at 210mm.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone looking for something better than a kit lens but not ready to spend the money for a 70-200 f/4L.
