Groove Requiem Clip - Schmidt et al in Valdez

There's an appalling singing/(lack of) talent show on in Australia at the moment. It's called 'The Voice'

As these things are wont to be, it's particularly popular. One of the judges is Seal. Most of the kids who like the show haven't a clue who Seal is, except for a few who think it may be because he was banging Heidi Klum.

But there's a memory of Seal from my teens that remained etched in my memory. The first time I got a DV camera and a computer with iMovie I made my very ever first powder edit to the same song:

"Total freedom, fresh powder, and a helicopter with a great stereo"

    That's an awesome clip, thanks.

My memory of Seal from my 20's was buying the cassette of his first album, and listening to it non-stop for an entire shift running the old LMC groomer at Big Sky. Nine hours, one tape. Well, it was interrupted by a safety meeting or two...
The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.
We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

^^ If I was on leather lace-ups, Voile plates and Karhu Extremes does that mean I was cooler than you? No matter, also my favourite ski flick of all time, still cherish my VHS copy, though I have it on DVD as well. Turned me on to Seal, a great artist, and every time Crazy comes around, I turn it up to 11 and drive a little faster.

Ho ho, not Harv, but friend of Harv's and honoured to be confused with him. Like MadPat, Mr. Multiglisse hails from north of the border.

Nice clip from a fun movie.

For US mags, it's been on Comcast On-Demand as a free movie lately

My memory of Seal was @ La Grave in '97 when he started to follow my wife out of the top of P1, cutting in front of me on the way out to follow her long blond braid.

Then he noticed me behind him and I smiled. He got it and left off.

Awesome ski flick, maybe my favorite Stumpy film of all time.
Also liked that Laird Hamilton Spreckels Ville segment with the Iggy Pop Butt Town track.
Saw it at the Egyptian (I think?) in Seattle when it first came out.
    Those Valdez scenes were mesmerising.
Agree on the sound track, especially liked the Hoodlum Priest track for the Kevin Andrews, LaGrave segment.

I don't know how many times one of my buddies would say "And then we got the nugget we were looking for."

Great clip! Seal + Schmidt + AK = the ultimate of the Groove. Great segment/movie to bring the possibilities and the reality (not Hollywood-ness) of skiing back into one's outlook.

AlpenChronic - Andrews ripping to Hoodlum Priest, while equally killer, was on License to Thrilllll

Sorry, I should have said Chamonix, it's in Groove, right after the segment that Rog posted above.

Groove is Stumpy's best work IMO and that's my fave ski porn segment of alltime.
turned us on to Seal back in the day
The MT segment w/Tom was great as well.

I'm sure you've heard from plenty, but you have no idea how inspirational that film was to a student season pass holder to Mad River Glen in the late 80s.

I don't think I've ever made an impulse purchase so quickly as when I saw the box set. Mindlessly meandering through ski shop, see box set, buy box set, run home and watch Blizzard.
