mutant rafters run anything

Seen one of these years ago on the Gauley used by the Park Service, apparently you can put most anyone in these and have a run you can walk away from.

are you actually propelling the raft thru the river? or just pointing it to its best orientation to address wherever the current is currently taking you?

and, also, isn't it a little tough to see with a column directly in front?

film can make some stuff look a little more tame than it is, but that water looks scary and dangerous, so, if that's the baseline, wow!

Wow exit drop is terrifying at those flows, there's vid of play boaters running it but at much lower water. I'd imagine it would eat them alive at that high of water!

That's some insanely scary whitewater. Looks even bigger than the N.F. Payette at high water.

Wow. One of those would have been nice when i ran Gore Canyon two years ago- damn near swam the whole thing.

Given the problems they were having on the water in the video, they had better get quite a bit more practice before trying the Stikine.

i have seen one of those get owned in Gore. dude had like a seatbelt on in there and was getting re-cirqued like crazy
was not an oar frame though

^^^ 'Toilet Bowl' i'm guessing. We re-cirqued on that one for more than 2 minutes according to my friend's gopro. That wiped me out physically like nothing i've done before or since.

Flipped? Oh well... not actually flipped... flail about until the craft self-rights.
Stuck in a hole? Oh well... the craft is not sticky so it wlll come out quick enough.

I've looked at those and thought that they make everything easy and low consequence unless a seatbelt breaks, tube pops, craft pins, or strains.

I couldn't dream of running those lines in a kayak. I could dream about doing it in a creature craft.

This isn't a moral judgement, just my observation.
