Tarpon season
I haven't been here for awhile so I figured I'd drop in and post some shots to let warthog know what it looks like here when it isn't overcast and blowing 20 knots. Lemme see if I can figure out the new site.
It was one of those flat calm mornings when the sky and water turn into one
After a short run to the backcountry I started poling and within 3 minutes we surrounded by rolling fish.
Jim hooked up on his 2nd cast and it was game on.
After jumping the first 2 off ( common in Tarpon fishing) we got #3 to the boat.
followed by 4 and 5
It turned into one of those retarded mornings when you could do no wrong. 2-3 hits on one retrieve, several fish competing for the fly etc. jim hooked this one after it followed the fly for about 10 feet and the the leader was half way through the guides on the rod.
The baby Tarpon started to get real aggressive so our buddy broke out the 8 weight bonefish rod and went to work.
Which I released after a lot of air time.
If you can make a hole in your schedule, you should come down and join the party warthog, the migration is on big time.

They are showing up here too. Off Anna Maria.
Looks good.
I almost came down to see the Songwriter's Fest.
Guy I know from HS plays drums for Reckless Kelly.

Schwerty, you need to stop threatening to do this and actually do it.
If you wait you'll just be another year older when you do, heard that somewhere.
We can do some of this too.
Wart, I'm generally not a fan of Texas country music but I like live music, Robert earl Keen put on a good show. The song writers fest is always a good time here.

I know. Its been years since I've hit the salt for those things! Family and the job keep me pretty grounded. Feel free to put in a call to my wife to get me a hall pass! I'm gonna say next spring but.....
Keep up the good work. Sounds like a good yr down there!

The guys that started Reckless Kelly are from Oregon, and it shows. They just live in Austin now.
Schwerty- here are some good Key West type lyrics to keep you headin' in the right direction.
I have been drunk now for over two weeks,
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks,
But I've got to stop wishin',
Got to go fishin', I'm down to rock bottom again.
Just a few friends, just a few friends.
