Here's the deal... I've got a friend who wants to get into mtbing, but his budget tops out at ~$400. Does anyone have any solid beaters sitting around? He is about 5'10" and local to SLC.

I'm hoping I can find an older hardtail with a decent build to get him started.

I'll be trolling KSL and Craigslist, but figured the collective here might have better and more relevant offers.
