Holy fucking shit, so what you are saying is, some Alta old-timers could have took out Hardcore so they can win the chairs back on pow days?

from Baron's post, it sounds like someone should search those areas again now that the snow has melted. Big Vibes to his family.

Couldn't confine your asshattery to polyass, huh? What, aren't you getting enough attention there?

Unless he's doing the disappear to start a new life thing, the guy is dead, his child will never see her Dad again, and pin dicks are cracking jokes about it.

For what it's worth a friend told me that Hardcore was going through some shit in his life and probably just disappeared for awhile. I'm not sure I believe that would be his style to leave all his belongings behind totally, I mean who wants to work to get money just to buy a cellphone again? That seems silly. I only met the guy a handful of times, guess it's not best to speculate.

IT IS pretty damn depressing to see all the dumbfucks who comment here make light of the situation. Sure the guy may have been a little possessive of a lift line spot, but those guys are human too and feed off the same endorphins you do when you ski.

So anyway if anyone feels like going for a hike around Ballroom/Baldy area I'm probably going sometime in the next couple days when I'm off from work. I'm curious just to hike around up there before the last of the snow melts because I think it would be cool to see the opposite of the transition I witnessed after moving here this fall. I also plan to keep a keen eye out for any ski equipment, extra poles, gloves and other random shit I might see.

BTW, does anyone know if the search party even went up near the Ballroom area, I mean shit was ripping outta there terrible a few weeks ago, I would be kinda surprised if they omitted that area from their search. I just seems like an area that would draw hikers.... It slid pretty good before he went missing, maybe that gave a sense of security that it was stable.... Just rollin around some ideas.

Gee, a guy who was proud to have a moniker like "hardcore" and made a habit of chastising beaters who aren't Alta locals out of the lift line. Color me surprised.

I think monikers like "hardcore" are often just a play on words, so Corry might be pronounced Corey shortened to Core, and you get the idea.

Ive been up in the ballroom area last few weeks..he's not there. My feeling is he just "escaped life" for a bit. As Luffers mentioned I have it on decent authority that Hardcore was going through some life shit and that may have prompted this disappearance. I hope he's ok cause despite what his attitude might project outwardly, I think he's just like the rest of us and skiing is in his heart.

Even if you're going through some shit in life, it seems rather self-serving to just up and disappear for a while, letting everyone waste time/money/resources searching for you when there may be someone else out there who really needs the help. All the while having your community, friends, and girlfriend worry about your well-being. Not to mention the grief his daughter must have felt on Father's Day, having no clue where her father is, or if he's even alive. Hopefully he's alive and well - it's almost (but not quite) better to think that he got lost/hurt somewhere rather than just getting away for a while and letting everyone worry about you. But who am I to judge...

and the only thing that would make me mad is the fact that he may of abandoned his child. That is worthy of the beat down so many attribute to his lift line actions. Camping out to get the first chair, I really don't care. Abandoning a child is about as low as it gets in my book.

I hope he is okay. I hope his daughter is surrounded by people who love her and are helping her. In know a heck of alot of people are up in those canyons every day. It would be unusual to not be found, but far from impossible.

I don't know this cat and can't comment on his parenting skills, but some kids might be better off in the long run without their biological parents. Just sayin...

Yeah Skidog, I didn't see your post until after I got back from skiing on Monday. LCC is still holding some patches of skiable - and not too sun-cupped - snow. I did poke around up on Baldy (Alta side) as best as I could, found a few season passes, chapsticks, a nuggets of weed and a pretty bent up weather station tower that got hit by a wet slab.... NO signs of anything out of the ordinary around the Alta side. There's not even a deep enough base to hide anything of size anyway, unless it got churned all the way down to the bottom.

I figured it was worth a peek since I had the time and I was itchin' to get some skiing in. Which, was fuckin' glorious after a month of zero ski time.

I certainly hope this guy isn't putting his child through the trauma of having to come to grips with never seeing their parent again. That would be just terrible.

Word to the wise, be careful in the slippery ass mud in melt zones. I'm jong as fuck and busted my ass and went for a nice slide in ballroom in a mix of mud, shale and "oh shits" until I grabbed onto some foliage and dug in.

If he is so dedicated to Alta why would he skip town? Perhaps he did the suicide thing somewhere he'd be very hard to find. But then would he have come across these places with a friend who would have told authorities to look for him in these places already. I don't know.

I'm curious on the speculation around this said "shit" that he was in. I mean wtf is bad enough to just abandon like this...did he witness a mob hit or something?? In debt with Mexican cartels? I mean to just abandon your kid, makes no sense unless it is something of that extreme caliber.

people kill themselves for the most fucked up reasons. I know of an instance of a married dude who killed himself the day his family was evicted from their house for not paying the mortgage

what the hell, it's not the end of the world.
