definitely not. and riding chairs on a pow day (unless it's puking 2" an hour) is not worth it anyway. moving to utah as a youngster made me tour for turns a good 6 out of 7 days instead of standing in line with "hardcore".

i can remember looking out my dorm room window at the lines WELL before opening, shaking my head thinking, "this place is retarded"
that was like my second week out there. thank god for skinz.

rippin down a powder coated mountain, catching air, blazing weed, drinkin beers lap after lap isnt worth it because you have to wait in line for the first round of chairs ? you guys would rather ski yo yo lines 800 vert on 33 degree slopes making more turns than feet of air you caught all 1994 its ok, different strokes

with so many obnoxious badasses around here, i'm always surprised when one guy somehow gets picked as worse than the rest. maybe it's a conformity thing. step out of line with the free spirits and get tagged.

Yabyum, most of the LCC crew is too hardcore for the wasatch back, just the way I like it...I did check to see if he was first in line for the Canyons new putt-putt golf course, but no sign of him yet.

ps. I was skiing Alta on monday and it was full of some chill, stoked people enjoying the powder. I love that place...when it's closed, Otherwise I don't ski there much anymore since they raised the price from $17 halfday tix that you skied all day (supreme) with, and ruined it with the high-speed

i'm sorry. i don't understand your obnoxious badass jargon. but if you're hitting on me, you'll have to take it up with my other suitors. just so you know, though, i find excessive facial hair repulsive.

High speeds don't ruin it on the otherside? How do they do that? That Talisker just never ceases to amaze me. ;-)

they do, but at Alta the new Collins lift really rapes that place... I dont spend much of my time inbounds just use the lifts occasionally to get me back to the top, than hike where I get to ski freshies in relative peace.

also want to reiterate; I never bad mouthed hardcore, only that I found the "holding places" policy that he abuses wrong

    I do the same. What's 'Collins'. ;-)

Where to gold lies is when Collins Breaks down and the EBT is open, especially if it was closed the day before.

Wow, that must be the first time I've ever agreed with you.

I won't really speak ill of the dead unless they were a public figure or really deserve it. Since this guy just sounds like the ultimate jackass, I'm hoping that by saying that it's keeping hope alive that he's... alive.

It really sounds like he's in a dark place, mine-shaft or not. Offering to take it across the road... wow. The worst part of these Alta threads is that, just like IRL, the terrorists are actually winning. A lot of normal people are probably going to choose other destinations, thus leaving the hill for the Hardcores.

Anyway, I hope he has water and shelter and the will to be rescued right now.
.....I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record

I love how all of the "hardcore" tools scramble for first chair, but only ski for like an hour.

    Two pump chumps.

These douches have turned skiing into a rat race.

This one literally skis all day, day in day out I pass by him early season after the first snowfall, late season when everything is closed. He's a dedicated skier for sure...yeah hes brash, and his attitude sucks usually, but he's never bothered me.

So both of his cars were located in the Valley with most of his stuff, anyone check to see if his skis were there, and what's the snow pack like @ Alta right now? Seems kind of late in the season to get buried in an avalanche or tree well.

ID:	116422Most springs, the wife and I take a post Bridger trip to Utah. 2 or 3 years ago, we rolled up to Alta early on a 10" morning. Turned out we were the 2nd and 3rd people there that morning; 1st guy was Spademan Rob. I didn't want to make any waves and being from out of town wanted to respect local protocol, so asked him what the deal was with first chair, i.e. did we have to stay with our stuff, or could we hit up the GMD for a quick bite to go. He explained how the deal worked, which we thought was kind of f'ed up having one guy reserve the whole chair for 3 other people not there yet, but whatever, 1st or 2nd chair, big whoop. The wife and I took turns getting a breakfast sandwich to eat in line while the other watched our stuff. Turned out that Rob appreciated that we asked how things work there and we ended up on the first chair with him and one other dood, maybe it was this Hardcore fella. As much as the way the first chair scene there seems whacked and how the guy comes off in that interview, here's hoping it turns out well for him in the end.

This is the strangest missing person thread I have ever read. A lot of folks are rushing to judgement that this guy is a total tool based on a small sample size of info about him. Perhaps away from the slopes he could be the nicest guy you know and a great father. I play hoops with some guys that are total douchebags on the court and the nicest guys in the world off of it. Some people are weird like that. If that is how they roll at Alta then shouldn't the beef be with Alta's policy? I hope he is found safe and well.

It's a strange story all around. The news stories make a passing mention of his car being moved to Sandy, but don't even try to explain how that fits with the original story that he went missing on a hike. I just googled him and there have been no updates from the news in 4 days or so. Did they disappear him?

Do your hoops friends go by hardcore? From the sounds of it this guy doesnt seem to care what anyone thinks of him so I hardly think he would mind this thread.

Any updates? As stated above, no updates in the Tribune since 24 May.

People go missing all the time, But this guy is an Alta regular so I guess we all care.

I care. I remember him in the line-up on collins lift. I am not a regular but I have been in the GMD and that line-up 10 or 12 times.
